In August 2005, I was involved in creating a mosaic sculpture in Spirit Park in the West Broadway area. Here is a link to my photo documentation of the last 8 days of the construction of the sculpture with instructions on where you can find it.
In 2004, I taught a watercolor workshop to a group of 15 ladies, most of whom had never heard of transparent watercolors and some of whom had never tried to paint anything. The all went home with a beautiful framed picture of a northern lights. Here are samples of their work.
I am presently creating a topic to encourage young people of all ages to explore their inborn creativity. Here is the site:
Born to Be Creative I have written several richly illustrated articles on art topics at another site. Be patient while you wait for the graphics to load, especially for the Doodling article.
This article is illustrated with two full sheet watercolors which I painted in 2000 for the Advent show at the Mennonite Heritage Gallery.
Jugendstil, Art Nouveau, or the Age of Doodling
Obsessive doodling leads to a style of art which has remained popular for 100 years. All doodlers can identify with it. This article is best viewed in default font size. If you are using a different font size, the format may be distorted, but I think you will still enjoy the content. At the moment, this is the most popular of all the articles which I have ever published on the web.
Roadside Attractions of Manitoba
The significance of roadside attractions. Continued in a second article which is linked below.
Tacky Yard Art Is Good for the Soul
Garden art allows people to realize the dreams of their childhood. Look at their gardens and you see the people's most secret desires. What looks tacky to a neighbor may be therapeutic to the owner. This article was written in a humorous vein by my late cat Dusty who is an expert on gardens.
