St. James Scores Shutout over Terrebonne 38-0

HOUMA, La – The St. James Wildcats scored their second shutout in as many games when they defeated the Terrebonne Tigers 38-0 in Houma. The Wildcats scored six touchdowns overall and all six included different players.
Very similar to last week, the performance of the Wildcats was at times sluggish, however, the players made plays when needed.
A short-lived rain soaked the stadium during the first drive of the game, but that did not slow down the Wildcats. #10 Jaurelle Narcisse got things started for St. James when he scored on a 26-yard run. PAT (Point After Attempt) was no good; St. James led 6-0 early in the game.
Wildcat #22 Luther Ambrose provided the next score for the Wildcats when he blasted up the field for a 50-yard touchdown run. Jaurelle Narcisse connected with the extra point and with 6:05 left in the first, St. James led 13-0.
Again similar to last week, the Wildcats looked flat during the second quarter. That was until Luther Ambrose intercepted a pass at his own goal line and sprinted 86 yards down the field before a Terrebonne player was able to push Ambrose out-of-bounds at the Wildcat 14-yard line.
On the next play, #6 Craig Duronselet took a reverse in for the score. The point after was no good and St. James led 19-0 which was the score going into halftime.
The Wildcat offense looked much better in the third quarter. Quarterback #2 Antonio Phillips fired a 10-yard touchdown pass to #27 Johnus Thomas to cap off a stellar drive. The extra point was blocked thus St. James led 25-0 with 5:42 left in the third quarter.
An interception by Jaurelle Narcisse set up the next Wildcat score. Antonio Phillips scored on a quarterback sneak. PAT was good; St. James led 32-0 with 3:03 left in the third quarter.
From this point, many second stringers and young players then entered the game.
The Wildcats would get one more score late in the game when a Terrebonne punt from their own end zone literally went 90 degrees sideways. This allowed Wildcat #16 Kenny Zenon to recover the live ball in the end zone for the score. The extra point was no good and St. James took a 38-0 lead which was the game-ending score.
NOTABLES Here is an interesting fact from the history books: The only other time St. James has ever scored more than 80 combined points in back-to-back shutouts was in 1996. During that powerhouse season, St. James put away Carver 41-0 and followed the week after by defeating Ellender 51-0.
Eight-grader #72 Jabari
Ambrose – the younger brother of Luther Ambrose – came up with an
interception from the defensive tackle position and nearly took it the
distance.
The entire forth quarter consisted of backup players. Proper execution by the young defense allowed St. James to hold the shutout even while Terrebonne kept their first offense on the field.
The St. James band provided another entertaining halftime show.
St. James will now gear up for a familiar foe when they take on the Belle Chasse Cardinals next Friday night. The game will mark homecoming night and will obviously be home at Wildcat Stadium.
