(RECORD: 11-3 COACH: Rick Gaille CLASS: 2A) The memorable atmosphere of a home battle with John
Curtis in week-8 highlighted the 2006 season. In that classic game against a national powerhouse, St. James
held there ground including keeping the game scoreless until halftime and
even taking the lead at one point in the third quarter. The 2006 season was a very successful one for the
Wildcats, dropping regular season games only to 5A juggernaut Destrehan and super
powerhouse John Curtis. The season would however end in a heartbreaking lost to
St. Charles in the state semi-finals -- a rematch from a week-10 game in
which St. James won. 2006 NOTABLES St. James defeated Hahnville 16-14 in the Jamboree by
means of a last-second field goal by Juarelle Narcisse. When St. James defeated Belle Chasse 43-13 in week-3,
both teams entered the game without allowing a single point in the first two
games of the season. The week-4 game at Chalmette was played at 4:30 in the
afternoon and was the first football game played in the Chalmette area since
Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. St. James fans enjoyed two distantly traveled games in
2006. Fans traveled to Lake Charles
to watch the Wildcats take on Washington-Marion in week-7. Fans also traveled to Mamou for the
second-round playoff game. |
