| Chapter Twelve I rounded the corner and hoped I didn't look like total crap to him. I saw him leaning againt the hard brick exterior of the empty warehouse building where only days before I was crying over him. When he noticed me he stood up and faced me. I smiled a bit, walking toward him. "You found me," I said. "Only took a week and a half," he replied. I looked down. "Look, Whitney I wasn't expecting what you told me before. Nothing could have prepared me for that. I felt really bad after our argument. I felt really low and really shallow. I could have just never seen you again, go on living my life. Shove you out of it. A couple of days there I wanted to. But you just kept coming back in my mind. I had to find you." I looked up at him. "Why?" I asked. "I'm not worth it." He placed his hands on my shoulders. "You are worth it. And I just spent a week and a half tracking you down because frankly...I love you." he told me. I took a sharp breath and started breathing quickly. Scenes came floating back in my mind of my parents. "Goodbye! I love you!!" My mom excitedly called out the window of my parents mini van. I walked inside. Hours later I was frozen in shock of the announcement on the news. A tractor trailer had ran into the owners of a light blue minivan. I was frozen in fear, unable to turn off the scene of the crash on the television. "Whitney? Are you okay? What's wrong?" I heard Abs ask. His voice was so far away, so distant. Then everything went black and silent. ~*~*~*~*~ I slowly felt myself coming back into conciousness and I opened my eyes. "Whitney, you're awake," Abs said, rushing over to me. For the first time in a while I felt cushions under me. My head was resting on a rather fluffy, comfortable pillow. "Where...where am I?" I asked, sitting up and putting a hand to my forehead. "You're in my apartment," he said, handing me a cup of coffee. "You didn't exactly accept my apology or anything, but I thought this would be a better place to put you then on the hard ground." "You apologized?" I asked, taking a sip of coffee. "You didn't give me a chance to," he said, sitting next to me. "What happened back there?" he wondered. "Something you said..it brought back memories of the day my-" I started to choke up and swallowed once. Abs placed hishand reassuringly on my leg. "My parents died. I guess my mind went into over drive." "I'm sorry," Abs apologized. I looked over at him. "I know." Epilogue... |
