Chapter Five

I felt myself waking up and pulled my cover tighter around me. Mornings were always chilly and by now the fire had died out. I slowly opened my eyes only to be looking into a pair of green ones. I screamed.
"Shh!" Jordan said, clamping a hand over my mouth. "You'll wake the others." I sat up.
"What are you doing, Jordan?" I whispered loudly. He sat next to me and laughed a little.
"Just wanted to freak you out," he smiled at me.I pushed him a bit.
   "You succeeded," I mumbled.
"Wha? What was that?" Jordan asked, cupping his hand around his ear.
"What's the deal with you and Emily?" I asked, changing the subject.
"Ah, I dunno," he stretched out his legs in front of him. "Nothing serious I don't think. Just a stupid little argument."
"You've been having a lot of them, lately," I observed.
"Yeah, he laughed a bit. "Its like we're old and married." Nikki woke up beside me.
"Jordan," she groggily spoke as she sat up and stretched. "Welcome home." She clumsily threw her arms out. Ayanna, Emily, and Holly were sleeping in a row next to her. Looking at them made me a bit sad, wanting a warm home to awake to, a comfortable bed, a cup of coffee, the whole nine yards. Nikki brought her arms back to her, lightly hitting Ayanna on the way back. Ayanna groaned in response. "Sorry Ayanna." Nikki said, drunkinly patting her on her head. "Go back to sleepy-sleepy." I looked over at Jordan who was watching all this with a smile on his face. "I'm gong back to sleep," Nikki announced and laid back down.
"My mate Johnny rented out a beach house for the next month, he said we're welcome to freshen up in it," Jordan informed me.
"Really? my eyes lit up. "That's fantastic!" Nikki sat up quick.
"What? I heard 'freshen up'" Nikki exclaimed. "I'm dying for a shower." I nodded.
"Let's go then," Jordan said, beginning to stand up. Nikki and I woke up the other girls. We headed to Jordan's friend's house.
                                    ~*~*~*~

We arrived at Johnny's house about an hour later. The girls were anxious, as was I. Jordan knocked on the front door and Johnny answered soon after. "Hey man," Johnny greeted Jordan. "These your girls?"
   "Yup," Jordan nodded.
"They don't look like they've been living on the streets," Johnny commented.
"That's cos they got the best," Jordan smiled as he wrapped his arm around Emily's waist. She giggled.
"Come in," Johnny said, opening the door wider. Jordan and Emily stepped in, followed by Ayanna and Holly, then me and Nikki. The house was small, but it was a house, which was more than we 6 had. Jordan and Emily got cozy on the couch while Ayanna and I sat in nearby chairs. Nikki sprawled out on the floor next to Holly. "So whose up first?" Johnny asked when we all got settled.
"Me!" Ayanna, Nikki, Emily, Holly, and I all exclaimed at the same time, but I jumped up first.
"Alright," Johnny laughed. "Bathroom's down the hall, first door on the left." I followd his instructions and entered the bathroom. I turned on the shower and ran my hand there the hot water. I stepped in and drenched myself in steaming, wonderful, clean, water.
