Chapter Five    We had been in the car an hour and a half and it was starting to get dark. I was beginning to get nervous. "We could start to walk toward the lodge," Scott suggested.    "Scott, the lodge is 20 miles away. It'll take us all night to walk there and it is going to be way too cold," I said.    "I'm hungry," Scott complained.    "When aren't you?" I sighed.    "No, seriously, I haven't eaten since we left the house this morning," Scott replied.    "Come to think of it, neither have I," I said. I grabbed my bookbag from the backseat. I unzipped it and pulled out the box of crackers. "This is all I brought." I shrugged. I opened it to find only one package left opened, half gone. "Scott!" I exclaimed.    "Sorree, sis," Scott apologized. "I got hungry one day... I couldn't contain myself."    "This is all the food we have left? Ugh!" I exclaimed. Scott shrugged and grabbed a cracker. "Scott! We have to ration our food!"    "Lighten up," Scott rolled his eyes. "We have plently of food. Besides -" He was about to finish what he was saying when we heard a loud rumbling noise. "Whats that?" Scott asked me.    "I dunno," I said. "Lets find out." I got out of the car and shut the door behind me. I looked down the road. It defintely wasn't a car or truck for that matter. What could it be? It was getting louder as the seconds passed by. I looked over st Scott who was looking straight up. "Scott, what is it?" I asked, moving toward him. He pointed up at the mountain in front of us. I looked up. A large mass of snow was coming down the hill toward us. Right in our path.    "Avalanch," Scott whispered. He grabbed my hand. "We gotta get out of here." I was frozen. "Whitney, come on!" We ran to the car. Scott tried to pull open the door. It was stuck.    "Open, open the car!!" I yelled, looking back at the quickly advancing snow.    "I can't get it open!" He cried. The snow reached the street. Scott and I turned as the snow came closer. We were trapped, no where to run. Suddenly, everything went white. Then black. Then nothing at all. Chapter Six...
