| Chapter Six I woke up and all I could see was white. I was extremely cold. I didn't remember I thing that had happened. It was so dark. I felt lost and alone. I thought I was. I heard a muffled sound in the distance and I blinked my eyes to try and make it out. All I could see was white. I couldn't respond to the sound. It came closer, I could tell. "Whitney. Whitney." I heard. I tried to move my arms but I couldn't. The weight of the snow was too heavy. I felt something on my right arm and realized it was a hand. It pulled me up until my upper body was out of the snow. "Whitney, oh my god, you're alive," Scott said, embracing me in a tight hug. "Scott," I whispered. "What happened?" "Shh, I'll explain later." He replied. He was covered in snow as well. He helped me stand up. I felt weak and a wave of dizzyness swept over me. I reached for Scott and fell against him. "Are you alright?" He asked. I nodded. "You must have hit your head when you were swept over by the snow. It was an avalanche, sis." "What now?" I asked when I felt a bit better. "Well, the car is...no where to be seen, so I guess we should look for some type of shelter." Scott shrugged, still holding on to my arm. I nodded. We began the long walk up the mountain. Snow was everywhere. I never thought we'd find a place to use as shelter. We had been walking an estimated 45 minutes when Scott stopped. "What?" I asked. "There," Scott said, pointing. "Its perfect." What he was pointing at was a small opening to what looked like a cave. As we approached it, it became more clear. The opening was blocked partly by snow. Scott walked ahead of me, clearing away some of it. We entered the cave in the side of the mountain. It was dark now. I felt my way around the walls which were cool and a bit damp. "This is a good place." Scott said. "We might as well set up here." "Set up what, Scott?" I laughed, making my way toward him in the dark. I found him and he led me a little deeper into the cave and we sat side by side. I scooted close to him to generate some body heat. I leaned against him and closed my eyes. I hoped in the morning we could make progress. They must be looking for us already. They must. They must....I slowly fell asleep. Chapter Seven... |
