Chapter Fourteen
Whitney: I hugged Nikki tight. She had actually won. I had placed second so we got heaps and heaps of money. That would go toward the salon and the house and mmm I need some new shoes, I thought to myself. "I can't believe I did it," Nikki said in an astonished voice when I let her go.
"I can! You an me, we're the best in the buisness," I replied. We grabbed our stuff from the chairs and started to head out of the massive warehouse as the janitors started to sweep up all the hair.
"Ohhh no," Nikki said, suddenly stopping.
"What?" I asked as I turned to look at her.
"I have a date with Ritchie tonight," she said, a weird look on her face.
   "Yeah..so?"
"Ah...nothing. I forgot is all," she said, walking again. I shook my head a bit. She sure was being a bit strange lately.

Ritchie: I heard the door to the flat open and shut and I rushed out of my room. I ran into the hall and into the living room trying to stay on my feet. Whitney was taking off her jacket as I ran in. "How'd you do?" I wondered, stopping suddenly.
"Great," she beamed. "Nik got first and I got second."
"Ahh great," I smiled. "So, hey, um, you know that date with Nikki tonight?" She nodded. "I need some clothing advice." She looked me up and down.
   "Do
not go out in that," she said, hanging up her jacket. I looked down. I was wearing a blue button down shirt, boxers, and socks.
"Well I'm not dressed yet," I told her, walking up to her and grabbing her arm. "C'mon" I dragged her into my room where a few outfits were laid out on my bed.
"Hmm," she said, acting like she was in deep thought. She grabbed a pair of khakis and put them up to me by the bottom of my shirt.
"Hey, watch the hands," I joked. She laughed a bit.
"Okay, umm, I like this combination, try it on," she said, handing me the pants. I pulled them on and tucked my shirt in.
"So?" I asked. She waved away fake tears.
"My little Ritchie is growing up!" she said in a strained voice, coming over and hugging me. I just laughed in response.

J: I heard some laughing as I was walking down the hall. It seemed to be coming from Ritchie's room. The door was opened a crack and I looked through it. Whitney was holding up a pair of pants to him and they were laughing and making remarks. I felt the jealously heat up in me again but forced to keep it down. "I'll leave to let you do the finishing touches," I heard Whitney say. I stepped away from the door and hurried into the living room. I plopped into one of the chairs as she entered the kitchen. I opened up a magazine and started flipping through pages. Whitney entered the living room and sat on the opposite side of the room from me. She flipped on the TV and started surfing the channels. I set down the mag in front of me and leaned forward.
"Do you want to talk?" I asked her.
   "No," was all she replied.
"Why not?" I felt myself getting angry. "You didn't have a problem talking to Ritchie." Her mouth dropped a bit as she looked over to me.
"Oh, that's great, J, you've lowered yourself to spying on me? I'm sorry I wasn't as trustworthy as I thought," she spat back. Beofre I could respond the doorbell rang. Whitney shut off the TV and got up and flung open the door. Nikki stood there. "Come in, Ritchie will be out in a few," she grumbled as she shut the door and left the living room. Nikki looked to me, a bit confused. I just sighed and closed my eyes. Great job, J. Great job.
