Chapter Sixteen
Whitney: I got up the next morning from staying at Nikki's and grabbed my things. After I quick shower I headed home. I had things to do and I couldn't avoid the house forever. I parked my car and got out. I unlocked the front door and stepped in. "Hello?" I called. No one answered. The house was freakishly quiet. I went to lay my keys on the small table next to the couch like I always did when I noticed the envelope. It was marked 'Whitney' in J's handwriting. I picked it up as I set down my keys. I pulled out a small index card. "If you follow these things you will no longer be blue. Once you follow these notes, you'll find someone who loves you," I read aloud. A small smile crossed my face. I read the first clue. I am found in the CD Ritchie blares most.
I walked quickly toward Ritchie's room and stopped when I reached his CD rack. I skimmed down. I grabbed the blue Nirvana cd case and flipped it open. Another card, smaller this time was in there. "I do...love you." I read aloud this time.
This is where you'll find Scott visiting all the time. was next.
I reached the kitchen and pulled open the fridge. On top of a frozen pizza was another white envelope. "You're almost done" I read.
Best for last...you'll find the last card where we first kissed. I took a breath as I thought back. J and I were just friends back then. We were watching the stars one night out back under the big weeping willow tree when he kissed me. I found I was smiling freely now. I opened the back door from the kitchen and looked out. I was holding all the cards. I walked out and shut the door behind me. As I reached the tree I saw J standing there. I took a breath as I approached him.

J: She had actually come. She could have just ignored the note and left. But she came. That had to mean something, right? I smiled as she approached me, clutching all the cards to her. "Thanks for following the notes," I said. She nodded a bit.
   "It was...fun," she smiled.
"Look, Whit," I said, stepping up to her. "I'm really sorry about all the bad vibes that have been going on between us lately. I feel really bad about how I reacted. I never want to lose you. I overreacted because I know how lucky I am to have you and to be with you. I never want any other guy to feel the way I do when I'm with you. That's why I acted the way I did, and I'm sorry." She bit her lip a bit. "Forgive me?" I asked, brushing a peice of hair out of her eyes.
"After all you did?" she asked. I was speechless. I didn't know what to say. "Of course," she whispered. I smiled. Thank god. I leaned down and embraced her in a long soft kiss, one we hadn't shared in a long time.

Ritchie: I walked in the house and it was completely empty. That was strange, I thought to myself. I saw both Whitney and J's cars out front, where could they be? Oh no, I hope they aren't fighting again. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottled water. I walked across the kitchen as I took a sip and looked out the back window. Someone was out there. I peered closer. It was J and Whitney and they were kissing. Finally, I thought to myself. Finally its over. I smiled. Suddenly the phone rang. I reached for it. "Hello?" I said into it.
"Ritchie? It's Nikki. We need to talk."
