Chapter Six

Suprisingly enough, our coffee visit was a success. The conversation flowed freely and easily as we caught up on the time we had lost. I realized actually how much I had missed him. I missed his company, the familiar smile and adorable laugh he had. I mostly missed his friendship.
As we were preparing to leave, Ritchie excused himself to the restroom. As I was waiting, Tony came up to the table.
"So you guys aren't together?" he asked. I shook my head.
"No, Tony, just out for a friendly coffee visit," I explained.
"Well apparently I'm not the only one who thinks you two are together," Tony quietly replied, handing me a paper almost identical to the one I took home yesterday. I gasped ad I saw the picture on the front cover was of me and Ritchie on my front stoop. The large caption over it read, "Together again?!"
I looked back up at Tony who shrugged a bit. He started to walk back toward the kitchen as I saw Ritchie coming back from the restoroom. I quickly shoved the paper into my purse and concintrated souly on my drink.
"You ready?" Ritchie questioned when he reached the table. I nodded and stood. He helped me put on my jacket and we left. I walked with my eyes downcast, suddenly very aware of everything and everyone around us.
When we reached my condo we climed the few steps up until the door. "Thanks for the coffee," I told him. He nodded a bit. A million questions were running through my mind. Was he going to kiss me? Did he even want to kiss me? I looked at him and the signs began. I knew Ritchie's I-wanna-kiss-you signs like the back of my hand. He took his hands out of his pockets. He made more eye contact. He took a step toward me and -
"Wait," i stopped him. He gave me a questioning look. I grabbed my keys from my purse and unlocked the door. I stepped in and motioned that he did too. When he was fully inside I closed the door and leaned my back against it. Ritchie just stood there for a moment, looking confused.
"Are you going to kiss me?" I finally asked. He smiled a bit and came toward me. I shut my eyes as he leaned down and we kissed. I hadn't kissed him in such a long time, I had forgotten what it did to me. It was like a warmth flowed through me. My stomach did flips, it was like an adrenaline rugh. I was prerssed up against the door, running my fingers through his soft, soft hair. He pulled away a bit but I pulled him back, wanting more. After another few minutes of heated kissing I broke away from him.
"I think you should go now," I whispered, his face still inches from mine. Both of us were breathing hard. He pulled away from my grasp.
"Yeah, yeah, I should," he managed to say. I stepped up and pulled the door open. "Thanks," he whispered before he put on his sunglasses and headed out the door. At least now I got what I wanted and it wouldn't be scattered all over the tabloids in the morning, I thought to myself.
