Chapter Thirteen

Abs: Selfishly, I had forgotten that, duh, Whitney had a boyfriend. And here he was. My stomach was in knots, just knowing he'd take one look at me and know. Know what we had done. Know that she had cheated him him behind his back. I blinked my eyes a few times.
"Whoa...did everyone miss me that much?" he joked, dropping his bag in front of the mirror. We all let out a little laugh, mine a bit more squeaky than others. We loosened up and greeted him with Hi Mate's and hugs from the girls. Whitney gave him a shy smile before glancing over at me. I adverted my eyes as she did so. I couldn't watch this. When I looked back up he was releasing her from his grasp. I felt horrible. I knew getting involved with her would be a short-lived thing. And here he was, back.
"Listen, guys, just...have the rest of the day off," Whitney shrugged, her voice notetly a bit shaky. I would have given anything at that moment to know what she was thinking. As everyone was grabbing their things and beginning to leave I was unable to move from my spot on the floor. My eye caught hers. She gave me a small shrug and a sad smile before breaking the stare and heading to Dom.

Dominic: "I've missed you so much," I whispered to Whitney, kissing her deeply int he parking lot by our car.
"I didn't knwo you were coming back so soon," was all she said when we let go.
"Glad to hear you missed me too," I mumbled.
   "Dom, I
did miss you," she said, unconvincingly. "I just wasn't expecting you today, that's all." She gave me a quick reassuring kiss. I smiled. "How was your dancer?" she asked, chaning the subject.
"He turned out to be a she." I said. She gave me a questioning look. "Don't ask." I shook my head. She laughed a bit. "Thanks for taking over while I was gone."
"I had a blast," she beamed. "Everyone worked really well together. Everything is really sharp. I think we're ready for opening night."
"Considering it's Monday we better be ready," I stated. She nodded.
"We will be," she assured me.
"Let's get home, eh?" I suggested, reaching for my keys. She nodded in agreement.

Nikki: I dabbed at my eyes with my crumpled up Kleenex that I had been holding in my hand for the past 45 minutes. These old classic romance movies got to be every time. My doorbell rang. I sniffed and muted the TV. I got up and shuffled toward the door in my sock feet. I wiped at my face one more time before unlocking and opening the door. Ritchie's unmistakable face peered over a bundle of white roses. I rolled my eyes.
"Nikkibeforeyoushutthedoorwait," he said quickly. I didn't say anything, but didn't shut the door either. He thrusted the roses toward me. I took them and set them down on the floor inside my apartment. "Look, I know I screwed up. You don't know how much I know I screwed up." I gave him a look. "But people give second chances, right? Please, I'm asking you for a second chance."
"Okay," I replied. His face dramatically changed.
   "W-what?" he asked.
"Okay," I repeated. "You're right, people do give second chances. How selfish of me." He smiled. "Want to come in?" He nodded generously. "Wait-" I stopped him before he entered. "I forgot. I gave you one chance. Amanda gave you another. In my book, that's two chances," I sharply stated. His mouth dropped a bit, dumbfounded. "You're chances are up." With that, I slammed the door in his face.
