Do
Not Forget This Story
Bodies
everywhere and not one living
I saw his
cloudy vision of ashes
Raining
What was
once a voice of reason
Faded into
a suffering silence
He has
nothing to fear now, it ebbed
From all
those nights awaiting
His death
Embracing
bones and spoilt flesh
Of those
like him and his kind
Learning
to stay awake, he survived
By wanting
to stay alive, keeping
In mind
That if he
closed his eyes it meant
Surrendering
to sweet death
A closed
space, that's all he had
And
painful screams that had to be
Swallowed
For fear
filled the stomach enough
To last
another Godless day
He sees me
in near-tears, his voice
Begs me
back, but not once did he
Accuse
Though I
am disheartened by all
The evils
that surround the world
But you're
here, I whisper to him
And he
understands that I feel
For him
Still
nights find me awake of faces
Screaming
from a distance
