Pondering

Pondering the distance in between,
the deepest wide hiatus,
tears fall glittering and silent
their warmth is nothing to the shadowed cold
which pierces deep and sharp
So quicker now the tears do fall,
forming pools of gentle sorrow,
and staring into them see only pain
and hurt reflected there
Alas, shallow are the pools of pain
which feed on bitterness,
until a current more profound should stir
And up from growing depths a light would shine
scattered to a million glowing parts,
each point of radience touch surface
to glimmer as if mirrored there
So real is this light from dark
that eyes should turn towards the vaulting sky
and gaze with joy upon the truth
The frozen black of night may span eternity
to inspire pain in the distances,
between the light and dark
But, through these depths the warmth remembers
if only eyes and hearts should open,
and look to see the beauty within night
For as a gaze should fall upon a single star,
so too another's gaze does rest
and nigh eternity nor night may break the clasp
of kindred hearts who share this knowledge true.
