More pics and updates! Tony raced the Bantam 7-08-00 went out the 2nd round but still had fun. Tony ran a 9.12 @ 71 MPH The car runs like it's a Swiss watch, in Tony's words about all it needs is for him to get more seat time to be able to cut better lights. (And it needs flames painted on the sides.) I'm sure he will be sawing down the tree before the season is over. We did run the first time pass together, Strange Brew is a little quicker but the Bantam with the help of the lower first gear in the Turbo 200 trans. really gets off the line well. He wooped me in the first 60 foot. I set a new team record reaction time on that pass, the first perfect light, a .500! |

This is the Man, the one to blame for starting all this maddness. Tony was into pulling tractors. I was doing my thing with the street rod and racing it a couple times a year. Then my old friend the "Beatnik" started to unload all his wonderful junk at my house and the rest as they say is history. And the neat thing is, we ain't done yet! Hey Beat!, I LOVE YOU MAN! |

Tony brought his new racer to the Neoga Days Car Show, he helped out by judging cars and getting rained on like every thing else. It rained sideways and we ended up with nearly 2.5" of rain but the show goeres took it all in stride and enjoyed the chance to show off. |

This is what Strange Brew Too looked like the day we trucked it home, 30 years in a barn had not been kind to the old scoot. |

After a few months of off & on work (more off than on) Strange Brew Too was reborn as a drag strip pit scooter, 8 hp briggs, electric start, a jr.dragster wing, and a chopper style solo seat. Our good friend "Beatnik" was again responsible for this new member to the race team. He had this 1956 Allstate (Cushman) scooter as a youth. He and his brother spent many hours riding and pushing their scooters around the country side. His brothers' ride, a 1957 Cushman Eagle is in the Strange Brew Shop waiting it's turn to once again hit the road, as a big boy toy. Pics to come soon. |

Those slicks are just 26.5" tall. More pics to come. Tony says he's gonna flame it in, what else, YELLOW! The altered runs a 2.5 Iron Duke, Holley 350, Turbo 200, and a 4:10 - 9" Ford. |

Here we find Tony & our friend Jerry Deters. Jerry drove the Bantam during the 7-22-00 Fun Night at CCD. He also drove it in competion on 7-23-00. He went out in the 2nd round, but said he still had a blast. Jerry has been a partner in many drag race cars with Tony. |

Hey! There's a Go-Rilla riding our scooter! Nope, it's just "little old me, Big D"
Now you know why they call me that. Any-Hoo, I raced Strange Brew Too in the "Pit Bike Nationals" at CCD during the 7-22-00 Fun Night. I was able to make it to the semi-final round before I broke out. 18.923 on a 18.95 dial in @ 31.10 m.p.h.
There were scooters (we had the only Cushman), 4 wheelers, a Mule (the kind with wheels), a mini bike, a golf cart and even a 20 year old 11 horse lawn mower entered. The mower had a really small drive pully giving it speeds in excess of 30 m.p.h.
We had a blast that night and we hope it becomes a regular event a Coles County Dragway USA. |

This is the 2.5 Iron Duke that powers the Bantam. It has a mild Blue Racer cam, flat tops, a little head work a converted injection intake with a 350 CFM Holley, and an air operated starting line controler. It allows the gas pedal to be "Matted" on the line but the engine stays at idle. The line lock is wired to the same quick release button that controls the air and when it's released, hang on! |

I want to say thank you to all the folks in the Tilfords pit for helping me get my alt. mount fixed during the fun night. I will soon be adding a "friends page" to this web site and you can be sure the Tilfords will be at the top. |

One more thing to brag about! We were having such a good time at the Fun Night that I tried to do a good wheelie for all the kids watching. I left about 500 r.p.m. higher than normal and the result was a 60' long, butt puckering wheelie. As far as I know it wasn't caught on film. Dang it! |
