CALL FOR PAPERS
We are pleased to announce that The 14th Symposium of Students
in English will be organised by the English Department on 3-4 April 2009. The event is open to undergraduates
and MA students who take an interest in research connected to any aspect of
British and American literature, language and culture.
Proposals for presentations (20
minutes) or workshops (50 minutes) should be submitted by 15 March 2009. We favour
communication and the free sharing of ideas, therefore participants are
encouraged to present their papers in a way which stimulates interaction and
engages the audience.
We also intend to publish a
selection of participants' papers in the volume of conference proceedings
edited by the English Department.
We may be able to provide
accommodation for the nights of Thursday 2 April and Friday 3 April for up to
10 students, in either student dorms or staying with host families, on a first
come – first served basis. We regret that no contribution can be made towards
the cost of travel and meals. The students who are granted free accommodation
will be notified in due course and will be asked to confirm their
participation.
All participants will be contacted
via e-mail for details on accommodation, arrival and program.
There are two ways to register:
Students from Timisoara should submit their paper proposals at the English
Department, room 422 (University of the West).
Students from other cities should fill in the registration form below and send it by e-mail
to studentsymposium@yahoo.com .
