TRIP #2
MY SISTER AND I CAMPED OUT IN THE SUBY AT POLBLUE SWAMP IN THE HOPE THAT IT WOULD SNOW OVERNIGHT BECAUSE IT WAS FORECAST AND THERE WERE HEAPS OF OTHERS DOING THE SAME THING - IT DIDN'T

SOME OF THE MANY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
*GOING BACK TO SCONE (78Km EACH WAY) TO GET PIZZA AND MATCHES;
*FINDING REMNANTS OF SNOW FROM WHAT HAD PRESUMABLY BEEN A GOOD FALL A FEW DAYS BEFORE;
*GETTING LOST IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT SOMEWHERE ON TARRABUCCA ROAD (I THINK);
*SAW SOME COOL WATERFALLS AND STUFF;
*EATING MINT SLICE BIKKIES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
*HAVING ICE COVER THE CAR AT ABOUT 3:30AM AND THEN USING THE HEATER/DEMISTER FOR 20mins TO MELT IT;
*SEEING A COUPLE OF WANKERS THAT HAD PRANGED THEIR CARS INTO EACH OTHER AND CAMPING IN A NO CAMPING AREA;
*FREEZING OUR BUMS OFF;
*DRIVING AROUND LATE AT NIGHT IN FOG SO THICK I COULD JUST SEE MY GRANNY-BAR (OR ROO-BAR, IT DEFINATELY AIN'T FOR BULLS);
*ME SAYING: GEEZ THAT WAS A LONG HALF AN HOUR, SEEMED MORE LIKE 30 MINUTES (I WAS TIRED);
*HAVING IT TOTALLY NOT SNOW.

Yep on the way back we saw two 4WD's on this bridge at the same time, is that safe? A familiar sight - it says that the road is closed at the dingo-gate - 22km Part of Polblue falls by might using flash. Hmm, quite similar... Here's one of the best patches of the trip. The road here is way slippery - ice & mud. Here's one of the best patches of the trip. The road here is way slippery - ice & mud. Polblue Swamp very early in the morning after it didn't snow
As you can see from this angle there appeared to be not much snow. Small consolation from almost freezing to death overnight.
Wow, there was heaps of snow today, uhh, ice, uh whatever.
Yes it was extremely foggy through the night, I couldn't see 3 metres ahead. This is some of the fog the next morning. Barky carpark near Polblue Falls A picturesque shot of part of the Polblue Falls Part of Polblue Falls by day.
This is at the Polblue Falls camping area.

TRIP #3
MY SISTER AND I STARTED OUT EARLY ONE FRIDAY MORNING, NOT AS EARLY AS I WANTED, WHICH SORT OF SAVED US FROM A FREEZING DOOM, BUT AT LEAST THIS TIME WE GOT WHAT WE CAME FOR.

SOME OF THE MANY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
*SNOW;
*MORE SNOW;
*LOWEST SNOWFALL I HAVE SEEN;
*WUSSY 4WDRIVERS WANTING TO TURN AROUND BECAUSE THE SNOW WAS TOO DEEP FOR THEM;
*HAVING THE RANGER LOCK THE DINGO-GATE SO WE COULDN'T GET PAST IT;
*BUILDING A SNOWMAN;
*SEEING AN IDIOT IN A VN COMMODORE MAKING HIS WAY UP THROUGH THE SNOW;
*GREEN SNOWCICLES;
*GOING THROUGH THE DINGO-GATE AFTER THE RANGER SAID HE WAS LOCKING IT, ONLY TO MEET THE RANGER AND HAVE TO TURN BACK AGAIN;
*BEING THE ONLY ONE WITH AN UNSTOPPABLE MONSTER 4WD (APART FROM THE RANGER) TO DARE GO UP TO THE DINGO-GATE;
*ALMOST GETTING STRANDED IN A BLIZZARD;
*MIND BOGGLING VIEW FROM BRUSHY HILL LOOKOUT AT GLENBAWN DAM;
*NOT PAYING 5 BLOODY DOLLARS TO GET INTO GLENBAWN DAM .

A familiar sight - it says that the road is closed at the dingo-gate - 22km
This is me talking to the other 4WDrivers who were scared and were going to turn around, and The Park Ranger who told us he was going up to lock the gates. D'oh! My sister throwing snow yet again.
As you can see this is my car in the snow. Looking back at the carpark from the lookout.
Ann-Marie throwing snow on the dingo-gate picnic table Damn, they locked it. Party poopers!
Well you don't say! At least this time I got a good shot of this sign.
My first attempt at a snowman
Driving in a Winter Wonderland Looking at my car from Moonan Lookout
Yep, another shot of me, this time in the snow at the dingo-gate. Just about all of those tracks are mine, it's fun driving in snow!
You can see that visibility wasn't the greatest, I feared a white-out. (not the correction fluid either)
Zoomed out from the snowcicle Looking back towards the Barrington Tops, you can see that they are srouded in cloud.
Never leave the snow without a snowcicle. Notice where we are, hard to get snow down to this alltitude, about 900m. This is how dirty the car gets with one brief Barrington trip. The car was totally detailed the day before. This is how dirty the car gets with one brief Barrington trip. The car was totally detailed the day before.
Yes it's really cold, foggy and windy, a falling frozen branch just missed my car and I'm the only one up here...  AAAAAH!
Overlooking Lake Glenbawn at Brushy Hill Lookout
Another view of Glenbawn Dam This is the view from Mt. Royal Road, (north of Singleton) looking North towards the Barringtons that same afternoon, you can just make out the snow on the mountains in the distance.

TRIP #4
ME, BEC, ANDREW, KALEB, TONY, JACKIE, BEN, MICHELLE AND SARAH ORGANISED TO HAVE A BBQ IN WHAT MIGHT BE SNOW AT THE BARRINGTONS, TWO DAYS AFTER TRIP#3, THE RADIO SAID THERE WAS SO MUCH SNOW THE BARRINGTON'S HAD BEEN CLOSED OFF.

SOME OF THE MANY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
*DINGO-GATE STILL CLOSED, BUT NICE AMOUNT OF MUD THERE, SERVED AS A REST STOP AND A WASTE OF 44Km AND ABOUT AN HOUR;

*LOTS OF MUD;
*LOSING KALEBS BOOTS AT SOME POINT;
*PATROL GIVING IT'S REAR SUSPENSION A REAL WORK-OUT;
*ICY SNOWBALL FIGHT (OUCH).

Here are my snow tyres in the shed. Such a pain in the bum changing them at 12:30am for a trip that starts in 6 hours time.
A familiar sight - it says that the road is closed at the dingo-gate - 22km
Well there wasn't any snow here at the dingo-gate. But the radio said it was snowing!
Yep, no snow from this angle either, nice and muddy though. My travelling companion's Patrol is to the right. View from Moonan Lookout
View from Moonan Lookout
Quite a muddy day
Hmm, no wonder my lights weren't working right
At Manning River camping area, North Barringtons

TRIP #5
STACEY AND STEVE CAME WITH ME ON THIS HASTILY PREPARED TRIP, AND WE WEREN'T DISAPPOINTED. NOT AS MUCH SNOW AS TRIP#3, BUT AT LEAST WE COULD GET TO IT. NO-ONE WAS COMPLAINING.

SOME OF THE MANY HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
*SNOW;
*THE FANTASTIC WALK AROUND, AND IN SOME PARTS, OVER POLBLUE SWAMP, IT TOOK WAY LONGERTHAN IT SHOULD HAVE, BUT IT WAS FUN;
*THE WEATHER WAS NICE, AND YOU COULD FEEL THE SUN ON YOUR FACE, MUST HAVE BEEN AROUND 5-8oC;
*LOCKING IT UP BIG TIME ON THE SNOW, AS HAPPENS;
*STEVE SCARING THE CRAP OUT OF ME BY DRIVING MY CAR WITH 2 BROKEN ARMS AND NEARLY SLIDING IT INTO A PICNIC TABLE;

*EATING LOTS OF SNOW AND RED FLAVOURED SNOWCICLES;
*LOTS OF SNOW FIGHTS RESULTING IN PARTIAL BODILY NUMBNESS AND DISCOMFORT;
*DRIVING ON ICED OVER PUDDLES TO HEAR THEM CRACK;
*GOING HOME ON 'THE BACK ROAD' FROM ABERDEEN.

hmm, yes it is hard to stop in a hurry on snow. But it looks so pretty.
This is the view from Moonan Lookout again, looking back at the road up, pretty eh? Hmmmm, snow... Hmm, deep snow. Nice park Steve! Our base camp for the day, there's that lovely picnic table. As you can see: no tread marks = fairly long and fun skid at low speed
This a great action shot of Steve just missing me with a snowball at the Moonan Pine Plot
Darn my car gets grubby every time I come up here!
Here we are parked on the icy and crunchy dingo-gate carpark. The end of the snow journey, as we wind our way down the treacherous Scone Road, Steve uses the last photo on the film to take a remarkable shot of parts of Stacey and me, Garfield, a dirty widshield, and some more snow.

*WON'T WORK ON STUPID iMACS.
