This is a chart of Mac's father, Henry Sinclair and his ancestors. Henry is number 1, his father is number two and his grandfather is his father's number times two. His great-grandfather is his grandfather's number times two. Their wives are their numbers plus one. If you follow this you can see that a maternal grandmother will always be number 7. If you are confused just look at the last names. The missing numbers are the "missing" ancestors.
