Adelaide Marion Andrews was born December 15, 1898 to Charles Robert Andrews and Rebecca May Washburn. She grew up in New London, CT.
She worked as a primary school teacher most of her life in the New London area. She had many lifelong friends and loved to travel. In fact she was on a cruise ship in the Havana harbor when Castro took over. She stayed on board because she was afraid she would be in danger on her crutches.
Here she is on the right showing off on ice skates at Crystal Lake in Ellington with her friend Ida, her brother, Avery to one side. This was taken about 1944.
She had been active in her youth but that was ended around 1950.
She was crippled with a bone degenerating disease, and
went back and forth between Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Mass General.
Despite the pain, she often visited friends and family in her own car,
went to as many cultural events as she could afford and never stopped
going to thrift shops.
She died August 21, 1985.
