Belva May Andrews was born July 30, 1902. She worked for years
running a beauty salon on the Alcoa Steamship Lines for their
passengers. Belva traveled all over the Carribean and brought
back beautiful fabrics and sandals for everyone.
While in
Connecticut she gardened and many of the things that she planted
still flourish. She especially loved wildflowers and even had a
wild flower garden in front of the little cottage at Crystal Lake.
When she retired, her brother Avery had already framed out the house that she had designed for the Lake. When it was finished she resumed her work as a hairdresser in an area in her basement.
Aunt Belva was a redhead with a fiery disposition and a real zest for life. She died December 5, 1968 and was buried in West Stafford near her parents.
