This is a Home Where Children Live

You may not find things all in place,
Friend, when you enter here.
but, we're a home where children live,
We hold them very dear.

And you may find small fingerprints
and smudges on the wall.
When the kids are gone, we'll clean them up;
Right now, we're playing ball.

For there's one thing of which we're sure;
These children are on loan.
One day they're always underfoot,
Next thing you know, they're gone.

That's when we'll have a well-kept house,
When they're off on their own.
Right now, this is a home where children live;
A loved and lived in home.

I hope my children look back on today,
And see a mother who had time to play.
There will be years for cleaning and cooking,
for children grow up while we are not looking.

Little Hands

My little hands play patty-cake
they peek-a-boo and wave.....
They catch me while I learn to walk
And splash me as I bathe.

My little hands reach up to you
For hugs before I sleep...
And fold together when I pray
The Lord my soul to keep...

My little hands are tiny now
But yours will serve to guide me...
And when I'm grown I'll still reach out
And know you're right beside me.

A Tribute to Childcare Providers

There is no job more important than our,
no job anywhere else in the land.
We are the keepers of the future;
we hold the smallest hands.

Into our care we are trusted
to nurture and care for the young,
and for all of our everyday heroics,
our talents and skills go unsung.

We wipe tears from the eyes of the injured.
We rock babies brand new in our arms.
We encourage the shy and unsure child.
We make sure they are safe from all harm.

We foster the bonds of friendships,
letting no child go away mad.
We respect and we honor their emotions.
We give hugs to each child when they're sad.

We have more impact than does a professor,
a child's mind is molded by four,
so whatever we lay on the table
is whatever that child will explore.

Give each child the tools for adventure,
let them be artists and writers and more;
let them fly in the wind and dance on the stars
and build castles of sand on the shore.

It is true that we don't make much money
and we don't get a whole lot of praise,
but when one small child says, "I Love You,"
we're reminded of how this job pays.

Today is a gift given to you and me,
and the only one like it there will ever be.
So use it wisely, and spread some cheer,
because days quickly turn into a year.

The Best Things in Life Are Free

When we count our many blessings;
it isn't hard to see
that life's most valued treasures
are the treasures that are free.

For it isn't what we own or buy
that signifies our wealth.
It's the special gifts that have no price;
our family, friends, and health.

Some people are angels
without any wings
Who spread joy around
and do wonderful things.
