Children Are Like Flowers
Children are like flowers.... they start from tiny seeds. Love, and care, and sunshine, are simple little needs. We must always tend them, or else a lack of care May cause them not to flourish - nor any fruits to bear. Always then remember, when tiny seeds are sowing, Give daily care, and love them to keep them ever growing. |

Children Are Like Kites
Children are like kites. You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground. You run with them until you're both breathless, they crash. You add a longer tail, they hit the rooftop. You pluck them out of the spout, you patch and comfort, adjust and teach. You watch them lifted by the wind and assure them that someday they'll fly! finally they are airborne, but they need more string and you keep letting it out and with a twist of each ball of twine, there is sadness that goes with the joy because the kite becomes more distant and somehow you know that it won't be long before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that bound you together and soar as it was meant to soar free and alone. |

A man observed a woman in the grocery store with a three year old girl in her basket. As they passed the cookie section, the little girl asked for cookies and her mother told her no. The little girl immediately began to whine and fuss, and the mother said quietly, "Now Monica, we just have half of the aisles left to go through; don't be upset. It won't be long."
Soon they came to the candy aisle, and the little girl began to shout for candy. And when told she couldn't have any, she began to cry. The mother said, "There, there, Monica, don't cry - only two more aisles to go, and then we'll be checking out."
When they got to the check-out stand, the little girl immediately began to clamor for gum and burst into a terrible tantrum upon discovering there'd be no gum purchased. The mother patiently said, "Monica, we'll be through this checkout stand in 5 minutes and then you can go home and have a nice nap."
The man followed them out to the parking lot and stopped the woman to compliment her. "I couldn't help noticing how patient you were with little Monica," he began. Whereupon the mother said, "I'm Monica - my little girls name is Tammy". |

SOMEDAY
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, things are going to be a lot different. The garage won't be full of our kids bikes, trikes, etc. Just maybe I will be able to park the car in the garage!
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, the kitchen sink will not be filled with dirty dishes and the kitchen will actually look clean!
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, the telephone will actually be available, and won't look like it's growing from a teenager's ear. It will simply hang there....silently and amazingly available.
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, the back seat in our car will not be a disaster area, and we won't sit on jacks or crayons anymore.
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, we will return to normal conversations where "gross" and "yuk" will not be heard and "hurry up, I gotta go" will not be heard outside the bathroom door.
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, we won't run out of toilet paper, or answer such questions like "Mommy, isn't it a sin to drive 47 miles per hour in a 30 mile zone", or to promise to kiss the rabbit goodnight...or wait up forever til they come home from a date.
SOMEDAY WHEN THE KIDS ARE GROWN, things are going to be a lot different. One by one they'll leave our nest, and the place will begin to resemble order...but the phone will be strangely silent...the house will be quiet and calm...and we'll spend our time NOT looking forward to Someday, but looking back to yesterday. And thinking, "Maybe we can watch the grandkids and get some life back in this place for a change." |
