#1 Fan: "Can't single anyone out, I have to say all my friends, and that includes my parents. I come from a very liberal family, so I grew up with parents that were friends too. Every person who's been a friend to me has been a big fan."

Best Piece Of Advice: "Always love what you're doing, make sure that the compromises you make are always within reason and that the music is always number one. I've had a lot of people give me that advice. My mother was a performer and I probably heard that initially from her."

Sahara's Biography

Sahara was born June 19, 1977 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  As a child, she studied at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.  Sahara and her mother later settled in Vancouver where she continued her dance studies. Her mother and grandmother, both classically trained singers, strongly encouraged Sahara to begin vocal lessons.  Upon graduating high school, Sahara knew she was destined to be a singer.  She began to broaden her musical horizons and experiment vocally with blues, jazz and soul music.  Sahara landed reputable roles in many local productions including; The Pirates of Penzance, 42nd Street, and The Boyfriend.

A friend telephoned Sahara and told her about the Popstars audition.  Sahara was too curious not to check it out.  She quickly learned the lyrics to Backstreet Boys I'll Never Break Your Heart, went to the open call and tried to make an impression.  The rest is history!

Sahara's musical favourites include Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Bob Marley, BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

What do the other members think of Sahara?

Julie on Sahara:
"Sahara's the mother of the band. She has a lot of motherly attention to everybody. She's very caring. She's very creative, into mood and vibe, she's on that spiritual tip."

Maiko on Sahara:
"It's really funny, me and Sahara, we say we have a twin connection. The way that we are we have a lot of things in common, we have these weird little coincidences. Yesterday we both got a zit in the same place on the same cheek. Later her make-up artist said 'you have really nice lips'. Then a few minutes later the person who was doing my make-up said 'you have really nice lips'. Weird stuff like that."

Mirella on Sahara:
"She's hilarious. Sometimes she has these moments where she just can't contain herself and she does these kicks and dances around the kitchen. We call it the 'case of the kicks'.

Andrea on Sahara:
"We're really close. She always tells me I remind her of her friends back home. We have the same kind of humour, sometimes we'll get things that no one else gets. She's very wise."
