SOME FACTS ABOUT TEEN SUICIDE
- Suicide is the 9th ranking cause for death among all people in the U.S.,
but is the 3rd ranking cause for death among young people.
- Just as with adults, male teens are more likely to commit suicide than
females. In fact, for the age group of 15-24, 3 out of 4 suicides are by
males.
- While the risk of suicide is generally viewed as greater among the
elderly, it is important to note that between 1950 and 1990 the rate of
suicide among teens and young adults has tripled.
