Jason walked into the room and saw Carly laying on the bed. There
were tears in her eyes and it was obvious she had been crying. She rolled over
so her back was to him. He walked to the other side and sat down next to her. He
spread his legs out and touched her shoulder gently.
"Carly, dont even
try to pretend you're asleep because I know you're not."
"Jase...I'm a
horrible person..." she said rolling over.
Jason shook his head. "You
always say that but it's not true."
"Yes it is. You've given me
everything you have without a second thought and I how do I thank you? By
wrecking your life and making you miserable."
Jason sighs and reaches
down to touch her cheek. "You dont make me miserable, Carly. You have brought
more to my life than any fur coats, or diamonds, or penthouses could ever repay.
You brought me my son. You gave me my family. You made this bulletproof palace a
home. Before you came it was quiet and empty. And now it's..it's not. Yeah you
make things complicated..."
Carly smiled.
"...but you make
things alive too. You make life exciting and colorful and something to look
forward to. Carly you think I've given you everything, but it's the other way
around. You and Michael gave me everything I never knew I always
wanted."
"Jase..."
"Shhhh Carly. I want you to listen. I want you
to understand how important you are to me. I dont want you to question it,
ever." Jason reaches down and fingers the rings he gave her. "When I gave you
these it wasnt just to keep AJ quiet. It is a promise, that I will always be on
your side. I will always protect you and care for you anyway I can. If you ever
feel yourself start to doubt it just look at these and remember that promise."
Carly closed her eyes. "I dont know what I ever did to deserve someone
like you."
Jason raised his eyebrows. "You blackmailed me."
Carly
smiled.
"You ran off my girlfriend."
"Oh like that was a bad
thing."
"You told the police I was a
kidnapper."
"Yeah.."
"At some point I just had to give in and pay
attention to you. For fear of what you'd do next." Jason smiled teasingly at
her.
"You make it sound so romantic." Carly laughs.
"Well it was
kind of. At least in some parts." Jason rolled onto his side and propped his
head on his hand.
"Tell me about those."
"Well there was the time
when you found those drugs in the warehouse during the custody trial and got rid
of them just in time. And the time you wouldnt give up no matter how much I blew
you off and found out the truth about Hannah."
"I definitely deserve
brownie points for that one."
"And the time I left town and Sonny hit the
bottom and you saved his life even though you hated him because you knew how
much he mattered to me."
"I think I like this story."
"I thought
you would..."
"Tell me more...." Carly snuggled up next to him and Jason
pulled her closer with one arm wrapped around her waist. He looked into her eyes
and took her hand into his. Carly looked down as he intertwined their fingers
and rested their joined hands between their faces. She looked back into his eyes
which were only inches away from her own on the pillow.
"Well Princess
Carly was always, I mean always, in trouble."
Carly laughed. "Oh
I remember this one. And the way I heard it, none of it was ever her
fault."
Jason rolled his eyes. "Yeah sure...well she was always in
trouble but there was this good Knight."
"In shining
leather?"
"Well I don't know how shiny it was. But yeah he had some
leather. Anyways, so the good hearted Knight meets Princess Carly in a tavern
called Jake's and...."
"..and he's dazzled by her extrordinary beauty and
charm." She smiled.
Jason cocked an eyebrow. "Are you going to let me
tell this?"
"I'm just trying to make sure you get it right." She grinned.
"Okay so Princess Carly dazzles him at first with her beauty
and her....her other secret powers."
"Oh so Princess Carly has secret
powers?"
"Very powerful ones." He smiles. "But the good Knight soon comes
to realize that's it's not The Princess' powers or beauty that he admires so
much. It's her strong heart and courage. But no one can see them except for the
good hearted Knight."
"Why not?"
"Umm..I don't know. Wait, because
an evil witch cast a spell on her so nobody would know how beautiful she really
was."
"Can we call her Robin? I mean just for storyline purposes." Carly
grinned devilishly at him.
"Carly...."
"Ok Ok..."
"So the
Princess finds out she's having a child by the evil Prince AJ who is ruler over
some imaginary land."
"Oh so the bad guy can be called AJ but we can't
call the evil witch Robin?"
"Carly..."
"Ok Ok...go on."
"So
Carly uses uses her secret powers to convince the good hearted Knight to lie and
say she's having his child."
"What secret powers are those?" She asked
quietly.
Jason smirked. "Her most powerful one. Lots of
crying."
Carly grinned.
"Anyway so the good Knight helps the
Princess Carly. And the Knight and the Princess Carly and her son are all very
happy living in the Knight's castle."
"Why would a Knight have a castle,
Jase?"
"Because the good hearted Knight is really a prince too. He just
didnt want to live in the big palace and do boring Prince things so he became a
Knight so he could ride around on his horse."
"Named Harley? And pick up
wayward Princess' at taverns? I hope you're not planning on telling this story
to Michael."
Jason laughed. "Well the evil witch wanted to banish
Princess Carly from the kingdom forever so she told the evil Prince AJ Princess
Carly's secret."
"I told you that the witch was really Robin!"
Carly said gleefully. "Don't forget to mention that she did it because Princess
Carly was so much more beautiful than she was and she was jealous of her and all
the attention the good hearted Knight paid to her."
"All right the evil
witch was jealous of Princess Carly's beauty and that's why she wanted
to get rid of her."
"Because her face was covered in warts and she had a
huge nose and she was so hideous that the Knight couldnt even stand to look at
her, right?"
"Sure. So Princess Carly has to go live in the big boring
palace with the royal family. But the Knight is miserable and lonely without
her. You see he thought he was just helping her out but after she was gone he
realized how much he liked having her there. So he storms the royal palace and
rescues Princess Carly and takes her back to his castle so she can live with him
again."
"How galant of him."
Jason grinned over at her. "Well
he's a pretty cool Knight."
"No arguments there. So the good hearted
Knight defeated the evil royal family and brought the beautiful
Princess Carly home to his castle. So what happened next?" She asked squeezing
his hand.
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you dont know, Jason?
What kind of story is that? They dont live happily ever after?"
"Well
that's up to Princess Carly. You see she has to decide whether she wants to live
with the good Knight or if she wants to go on using her secret
powers."
Carly gasped softly. "But how can she decide when she isnt sure
if the Knight is just being noble or if he really loves her?"
Jason
looked down at her intensely. His voice was barely a whisper. "He
does."
Carly felt her heart skip a beat."He loves
her?"
"Desperately."
Carly's eyes filled with tears. "He
does?"
"So much it drives him crazy."
Carly propped herself up and
reached over to stroke his cheek. "Well then I think I know what happens
next."
Jason's eyes closed at her touch. "You do?"
"Yes. Because
Princess Carly loves the Knight more than anything. He's her whole world." Carly
leaned in and kissed his forehead. "She loves his face." She kissed his cheek.
"She loves his eyes." She kissed his eyelids. "She loves his strength." She
kissed the bridge of his nose. "But most of all she loves his beautiful heart."
Carly brought their hands down and rested them on his chest and felt his heart
beating rapidly beneath it. "The beautiful heart that saw past everything else
and loved her for who she really was." Carly lifted his hand and kissed it
gently. She looked back up at him and his eyes were still closed.
"Jase?"
She reached back up and stroked his cheek.
Jason opened his eyes.
"Yes?"
"I think I know how the story ends now." She said softly holding
his gaze.
Jason reached up to grasp the back of her head and pulled her
face right next to his. "I think I do too." And he pulled her mouth hungrily
against his own and began to kiss her passionately. He gently pushed her down
onto the bed beneath him.
And so the beautiful Princess Carly
and her goodhearted Knight Jason lived happily ever after.
