 FINALLY ~ CHAPTER FOUR
I give
you my heart broken and bruised It's still beating strong and wanting to
trust you I know I'm unfaithful I know I do wrong Do you protect
what you already own?
It wasn't the first time Hannah had been glad
Kelly's was open late. Sonny had left a few hours earlier and told her he would
be conducting business late that night. She had begun pacing the floor as soon
as he closed the door on the penthouse. She knew he was going to the meeting
with Moreno. The meeting that would send him to prison for the rest of his life.
She massaged the hot coffee mug in her hand and prayed silently for Sonny. And
for Jason.
She was staring at her drink so intently that she never saw
Johnny watching her from a distance.
Jason never saw the bullets coming. He and the two assigned body
guards stepped out of the limo to a group of Moreno's men standing a few feet
away. As soon as all three of them were standing on the Docks, Moreno's men
turned around and opened fire on them.
Jason crouched down and ran
alongside the limo as the guard returned the heated gunfire. He lept over the
hood of the car in hopes of gaining some cover. He landed on his stomach in the
snow.
Carly. Michael. Emily. Sonny. Bobbie. Lila. All the faces that he
loved ran through his mind. He thought of Carly crying on his doorstep. He
thought of all the times she had professed her love for him and how many times
he had refused to answer. He had never imagined that he would not have a life
without her or that her name would be the one his lips would cry out for when he
thought he reached the end. He thought of Michael sleeping in his crib. He
thought of all the things he would never see Michael do. Start school. Graduate
from college. This is what Jason Morgan thought as he lay face down in the
freezing snow. Snow that was now turning red with his blood.
Hannah left some money on the table and walked out of Kelly's.
She had to go to the Pier. She had to do something to stop the events her
betrayl had set into motion. She was going to do anything she had to keep the
man she loved from going to prison. And so was Carly.
"My my my....if it
isn't Miss Hannah Banana...."
Hannah was startled to see CArly standing
in front of her. Blocking her way. "Now is not the time, Carly!"
"Oh I'm
sorry..." Carly could feel so much emotion rising in her chest it was
unbearable. She wanted to claw Hannah's eyes out. She wanted to destroy this
woman. Carly had never hated anyone in her life as much as she hated Hannah
Scott in that moment. "Did I interrupt something?" She kept her voice
sarcasticly sweet.
"Yes...as a matter of fact you did." Hannah went to
walk past but Carly put a hand on her shoulder to keep her from moving. "For
Christ sake's Carly, now is not the time to play your stupid games!"
Carly put her face right up into Hannah's. She didnt flinch as she saw
the pain, the regret, the desperation in her eyes. Carly could think of nothing
but saving Jason. "Why you in that big of a hurry to send Jason to prison?"
Hannah flinched at CArly's words.
"That's right little Miss FBI.
I know who you are. I've known for weeks."
Carly's words knocked the
breath out of Hannah. She struggled to respond but felt as if she couldn't even
bring in air.
"Oh, and I'm not the only one who knows. Jason knows.
Sonny knows. I told them... they know what a worthless piece of shit you
are." Carly saw the impact her revelation was having on Hannah and she relished
it. This was a woman who's whole purpose in life was destroying everything that
Carly loved.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Hannah didnt know
how she regained the ability to speak.
"Really? Well you sure knew what
you were talking about on that tape you made."
"What tape?" Hannah was
so caught off guard her words slipped out before she even realized she was
thinking them.
"The tape, honey, of you all determined to send Sonny
down the river. Yammering on and on in that grating little voice of yours about
how they ruined your bust."
Hannah realized what conversation CArly was
referring to. When she had burst into Agent Ford's office demanding to know why
Sonny had been arrested prematurely. But she didnt know it had been taped. And
she sure as hell didnt know how Carly got her hands on it. "You're out of your
mind."
"Maybe so. But I'm not going to just stand by and let a Federally
funded hooker send Jason to San Quintan. So back off bitch."
"Really?
You want to talk about hookers Miss Married to the Highest Bidder?"
"Don't try to turn this one on me sweetheart. I know I've messed up. I
do. Believe me. But I would never, ever, make someone love me only to hurt them.
That is what you did to Sonny. You took a man who has lonely and hurting and you
used that to stab him in the back. Only you didnt realized that I wasn't going
to let you. You lose Hannah. You lose Sonny. You lose your assignment. And
hopefully you lose your job."
"Sonny loves me."
"Dont you
see? Can't you get it into that tiny brain of your that it doesnt matter? Your
cover is blown. You're through here, Hannah. Bye."
Carly stalked off
feeling very nervous. She knew Jason would be angry if he knew what she'd just
done. But it didnt matter.
I give you my body Naked and meek
Burning with passion Human and weak I try to be faithful then I
go wrong
Hannah could never touch them now. She would have to abort
her assignment and run back to her bosses with her tail between her legs. She
could run straight off the edge of the docks for all Carly cared.
Hannah
felt the impact of Carly's words like they were each physical blows. She lowered
her head in an effort to get oxygen in her lungs. If Sonny knew the truth then
they were over. He would never forgive her. She felt her knees buckle and she
suck to the ground. Powerless to move. Suddenly a hand clasped over her mouth
and the smell of ether penetrating her nostrils. She tried to struggle. But she
was powerless in the strength of the arms that were pinning her down. She felt
the release of unconciousness take over her body.
