POSSESSION :: CHAPTER ONE

Carly walked down the stairs and smiled when she saw Sonny talking on the phone. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck. He turned and smiled at her.

"Going somewhere?" She asked when he hung up.

Sonny wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her body close to his. "Uh, yeah. I have a dinner meeting with Alexis at the Port Charles Grille."

Carly cocked an eyebrow at him. "You're going on a date with Alexis?" Her voice was stern but her face was amused.

Sonny smiled and shook his head. "No I'm taking my lawyer to dinner so we can talk about some things."

Carly wasn't letting him get off that easily. "Oh but you have to get all sexy and dressed up to do it. You can't just walk across the hall?"

"Carly. You know Alexis has been working her ass off to help Zander. And helping Zander is helping me because he's going to get rid of Sorel without me having to worry about it."

Carly smiled. "I know. But I wouldnt be me if I didnt get at least a little jealous about it."

Sonny leaned in and kissed her. "That's one of the many reasons I love you."

Carly grinned seductively. "Oh...well if you love me so much then why don't we go upstairs and give you the opportunity to prove it."

Sonny smiled at slyly, "I gotta go but I'll make sure Alexis doesnt eat desert."

Carly laughed. "Well then you better not either cause I dont want you to be too full when you get home."

"Mmmm, I could never get enough of you..." He leaned in and kissed her once again before turning and walking towards the door and closing it softly behind him.

She smiled happily as she watched him go.

Carly was sitting on the couch in the Penthouse going over her layouts for the new Deception ad campaign. She leaned back for a minute and stretched her neck which was stiff from bending over the papers. There was a knock on the door, but she didnt bother to look up knowing Sonny wouldnt be back for at least another two hours. "Johnny, will you let em in?" she yelled.

She heard the knocking again and rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Johnny, get the door!" She yelled again. Another knock. She got up off the couch and stormed to the front door. "Johnny I'm gonna ...."

She froze when she saw him. Her eyes widened in surprise and her mouth opened slightly. It was him. It was Jason. Her Jason. It had been almost six months since the last time she had seen him. When he'd given her away at her wedding to Sonny and then had run off to rescue Emily. She squealed with delight and threw her arms around his neck. "Oh Jason! God, it's so good to see you."

He wrapped his arms around her and picked her feet up off the floor carrying her inside and kicking the door shut behind him. "Well that's a better reaction than I got last time." He laughed as he set her back down.

"Oh god, I missed you so much!" She was still clinging to his neck. "Why didnt you tell me you were coming home?"

"Well I wanted it to be a surprise." Jason smiled down at her.

"I thought you hated surprises." She looked at him confused.

Jason walked past her and sat on the couch. "Only when I'm the one being surprised and you're the one doing the surprising. Because that usually means all hell is about to break loose."

Carly laughed and sat down next to him. "How can you have been gone so long, and still know me so well?"

"Because some things never change." He looked around. "Where's Sonny?"

Carly rolled her eyes. "He took Alexis to dinner to the Grille."

Jason cocked an eyebrow. "And you're not out following him? Or coming up with a crisis to bring him home? Or showing up there with another man to tick him off?"

Carly grinned. "You do know me well! But no, I'm not going to freak out if Sonny goes to dinner with a friend who is also his lawyer just because she is a woman."

"Well I guess some things do change." Jason reached over and playfully punched her shoulder. "I remember a time when you would slap waitresses for bringing me a drink."

She held her hand to her chest in mock insult then laughed. "No I seem to remember her planting her sorry ass in your lap and running her hands all over you."

"Selective memory, Carly." He looked down at his hands. "So when do I get my twenty bucks back?"

She squinted her eyes at him. "Never."

Jason looked up sharply. Sonny had told him that he and Carly were happy together. Jason felt a part of him hope that the next words out of her mouth would be telling him how miserable she was. "I thought you two were happy?"

"We are." She said brightly. "Sonny is wonderful to me..." She paused hesitantly. "...to both of us."

He nodded at her. "Good. So I want my twenty bucks back."

She took his arm and leaned into him. "Nope, cause as long as I still owe you that money you have a reason to stick around."

Jason pulled her closer until she snuggled up against him. He rested his chin on the top of her head. He was having a hard time seeing her like this. Happy with someone else, but mostly he was just glad to see her, and that she was happy. He tried to remind himself that it should be enough for him.

"Jase..." Her voice was soft.

"Hmmm?" He murmed against her hair.

She took his hand into hers and looked up into his eyes. "Promise me something."

He nodded again.

"Promise me you wont leave this time."

"I cant promise you that Carly." His voice was soft almost a whisper. He reached down and touched her cheek. "But I promise I will stay as long as I can."
