One of my hobbies is to 'play' with mobile phones. It's been a long
time since I have been doing this and I feel that its time to
publish some of the information. I mostly work with
Nokia and
Siemens
phones. One can say that there are many advantages that Nokia phones
have over other phones... Here are some of them :-
-
Good Menu
::
Isn't it. That's something all of we feel. Almost all the Nokia
phones have a simliar menu with some features added or missing.
This makes you a Nokia expert by using only one of their phones.
-
Long Standby
Time
:: Thats what makes most of us go for Nokia phones. Long lasting
batteries are an added advantage.
-
Friendly User Interface
:: It's really easy to work with Nokia phones, because of their
cool interface. Its so easy to move around.
-
Big Screens
:: As compared to other phones.. Seen the small panasonic ones ;)
-
In built
Antennas
:: Gives them a better look.. !
-
Easy Repairing
:: Repairing, flashing or updating the software of Nokia phones is
far more easier as compared to other phones ..
-
Compatible
antennas and chargers
:: Didn't you use your friend's Nokia charger to charge your phone
even if you had a different Nokia model.
-
Robust body
::
Well my nokia phone falls off quite often, but no damages...
But
there are many disadvantages of buying Nokia phones
-
Price Tag
:: Nokia phones come for a price that is quite higher as comapared
to other phones like ericsson and motorola.
-
Very very weak support
:: Not much information is available about the Nokia firmware.
Nokia doesn't even let its protocol out.
-
Weak AT command
set
:: Nokia phones only support basic AT commands. There are no
commands available to do many things, like extracting the
netmonitor parameters and other stuff. If you like to work with AT
commands, I'd better suggest you to go for a Siemens phone.
-
Firmware Errors
::
That's something that happened with the new Nokia 2100. The
original firmware version had to be replaced with a new one due to
some errors in it.
-
Can't update the firmware
::
Siemens and Ericsson allow updating the firmware officially. Like
ericsson made an update from T68 to T68i and now T68j. Nokia
doesn't allow this.
Out
of the Nokia DTC-3 series, I find that Nokia 331X series is the
best. Although there is almost no hardware difference between Nokia
3310 and 3315, but only the software change makes 3315 much more
expensive than 3310. So, its better to buy a Nokia 3310 and flash
its software to 3315.
