Jaihyn carries the rank of Ikhinde in his clan (the level of Akhund if he were 'true' Atarvani). He would be considered very liberal amongst the more conservative, after the Reign of Fire Varati. He is a fire-elemental with warrior skills (warrior-priest to be exact). He tends to be rather mild and tolerant of others, but push him and he would have to struggle to keep that in mind and in heart. He would speak with an outland accent and often use words that would be very similar to the Varati language but not exactly like it because of the divergence. He could be understood though without much problem.
He is a tall man, over six feet but not by much, musceled but somehow he seems rather willowy and lanky. Unlike others of his Varati race, he has much lighter bronzed skin than most. Also incongruous to the others is the mop of mostly curly, sort of short, red-blonde hair and the flint grey eyes that don't miss much at all. He does have the sharp, chiseled Varati features to his face however, giving him a slightly predatory cast. All in all, he could be called handsome. He is dressed entirely in red. His loose, flowing pants are tied up at just below the knees and at the ankles, still giving him movement while not being in the way. His upper thigh length tunic is tightened with a heavy, tooled leather belt upon which several pouches hang on the left side. It's hard to tell if this tunic is long sleeved or has no sleeves as over all of this he wears a thick red cloak with a 'mandarin' style collar that he keeps snapped around his throat. He wears simple sandals almost in the tone of the caligae of the Empyreans without the straps crossing up his ankles. Beneath the cloak, there is an odd bulky shape on his right hip. He appears to be in his mid-twenties.
This has changed significantly due to his Outcasting. That updated information to come soon.
Found in a burned out hut in the very outer borders of the Varati lands as a two month old infant, he was adopted into the Ramah family in the nomadish clan of al-Rumai. He began to show early signs of the call into the Atarvani, namely the surfacing of the fire talent, which had possibly destroyed the hut he had been found in.
His father was a soft man, strictly a sheep and goat tender in the tribe, respected for his vast knowledge in his field. His mother was overly protective of her only son, no matter that he wasn't hers by flesh and blood. He did grow up with an older sister (by a couple of years) with a fiery temper and humour. As soon as he was old enough to understand, they did tell him that he was adopted into the family and clan and that they had no prior knowledge of his biological family but knew that he was a full blooded Varati, if a little lighter than most.
Once his powers started showing, that of a fire-elemental and the mystery of the burned-out hut possibly solved, he was given over for teaching by what the clan called Atarvani. He was also given over to the warriors for integration of both skills.
Eventually, al'Rumai made contact again with travelling Varati and decided to send the now grown Jaihyn to Haven to learn more about the other clans of Varati they had been out of contact with for so long. The foray ended in disaster, the difference between the beliefs of al-Rumai and the other Varati extremely drastic.
Jaihyn was arrested not many months into his stay in Haven for heresy and blasphemy against Khalid Atar, the god of the Varati, for showing pity for an Empyrean slave in the courtyard of the A'tesh-Gah. A society believing an innocent and different man guilty. Not only were his rank and robes taken from him, but his abilities to work fire was 'tapped', restricted within him from use. He was then turned out of the Atarvani and the Varati society as a whole, branded on the forehead with the Varati symbol 'Forsaken' and called Qismati-na, Cursed Luck.
Jaihyn stumbled away from the Atesh-Gah, hopelessness and emptiness filling his soul. Blindly, he fell into the Rialto where two of his very good friends, the Empyreans Altair and Kallista, took him under their wings (so to speak). His physical wounds healed quickly but the scars on his soul and mind were to last for much, much longer. However his life was shattered and completely turned upside down, soon after the Outcasting, Altair offered him a place in the Hounds, the City Guard of Haven. He takes on this new life with fervor, well supported by his friends, but often always on duty or isolated from others.
Thus he begins again, changing his life and his very outward appearance to start anew.
