Episode #6
Friends, Lovers, and Enemies

Next chapter, deals with relationship of certain people. I know I have been focusing on the Richards/Deschanel families. Don't worry, I'll do something with the Torress and Cummings families soon. I do have plans for them. Including Antonio's future ; )

Casey and Sara are laying together after making love (where we last left them).

CASEY: We need to do that more often.

SARA: I couldn't agree more.

The door opens and Meg walks in.

SARA: Meg!

MEG: Oh, God, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were home.

CASEY: Then what are you doing?

SARA: Oh, the thing for the store, right?

MEG: Yes. Sara has some papers for the store and told me to stop by and get them whenever. I didn't know you were home. It's so quiet around here.

SARA: Yeah, that's what we thought too. They're on the desk.

MEG: Okay, I'll be out of your way in just a second. You're coming in tonight, right?

SARA: Yeah, Emily is going to be there too.

MEG: Okay, I'll see you guys later.

Meg leaves. As she closes the door Casey and Sara start laughing.

CASEY: She was beet red.

SARA: I have a couple of errands to run, so I'm going to take a shower.

CASEY: Want some company?

SARA: Yes. But if I have any, I'll never leave the house.

She goes to the bathroom and he watches, smiling.

Ricardo is sitting at a desk in his new office. There is a knock on the door and a rough lookinh man steps in.

MAN: You Ricardo Torres?

RICARDO: Yeah, that's me. What can I do for you?

MAN: You've been served.

The man smiles quickly and leaves. Ricardo opens the envelope to fuind divorce papers citing irreconcilable differences.

RICARDO: I guess it's really over, isn't it, Gabi.

There's a knock on the door.

RICARDO: Come in.

CARMEN: Mijo, is something wrong? I was consulting the cards and they said that something would happen to make you very sad. I just had to come.

RICARDO: I was just served divorce papers.

CARMEN: From Gabi?

RICARDO: Yeah. But we did promise to move on. She's probably in Texas by now.

CARMEN: Si, si. Dinner tonight should help.

RICARDO: Yeah, it'll be just like old times.

Ricardo and Carmen smile at each other.

At the mission Antonio is kneeling at the altar and praying.

ANTONIO: God, why can't I get Gabi out of my mind? Is it that I'm not meant to be a priest maybe? I can't deny that I don't love her. I do, with all that I am.

Antonio doesn't see Gabi spying on him. She smiles slightly.

GABI: [Whispering.] I love you too, Antonio. But we can't be together, not yet. It's too soon.

A nun walks into the chapel and asks Antonio for advice on something as Gabi slips away, satisfied that the man she loves loves her back.

Nick and Francesca are sitting inside that little restaurant where Jude took Sara on their date.

NICK: So, people have thought you were dead since March?

FRANCESCA Yes. And most of them don't know I'm alove. Pretty much just the one that 'killed' me.

NICK: And everything you told me about stolen jewels, Cole Deschanel, and Gregory Richards and all of that is true?

FRANCESCA: Every word. Does it, I don't know, scare you? Because it's been a long time since I could talk to someone who didn't judge me for every terrible thing I've done, or been freightened a little by my past.

NICK: I won't lie, it's a lot to take in in one afternoon, but I like you. You're, from what I can tell, a nice person. And I'm from a small town where we are taught to never judge someone by what there past is or what the local gossips tell you. So, I would really like it if we could be friends.

FRANCESCA: You've got a deal.

NICK: Great, let's order something.

FRANCESCA: Okay. But I have some questions about you too. All I know is that your a Cummings. You know every dirty rotten detail about my life, let's hear yours.

Nick has a flashabacks of when he was in Kosovo and some terrible things he saw. He shakes it off and smiles.

NICK: I was born in Kansas, Ludlow to be exact. I about one of six children. Sara and Meg, two of the youngest, you know. Life is very quiet there. After high school I joined the amry. For the past eight years I have been in traveling around America and partially the world. Before I came to Sunset Beach, I was in Kosovo.

FRANCESCA: Really. Any stories from there?

NICK: It isn't pleasant. Those people weren't treated like they were people. Only someone completely sadistic and evil could be so cruel to human beings. But, enough with that very depressing subject.

They talk some more and laugh some more.

Meg and Benjy are walking down the street.

MEG: Benjy, I have been told that there is a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream waiting for you at the Shock Wave. We just have to eat quickly so we can get home to your daddy.

BENJY: Alright. Will you and daddy color wth me, Meg?

MEG: Of course.

BENJY: Cool.

At the Java Web Maria and Ross are sipping coffee, talking and laughing.

MARIA: She seems like she would have been a great woman.

ROSS: She was. But I'm getting on with life very well. I haven't really dated though.

MARIA: Is that what this is?

ROSS: Well, is you want it to be. I know you're just divorced and if it's too soon I completely understand. I like you though.

MARIA: What will we be doing on our next date?

ROSS: Well, now that you mention it, I have absolutely no clue. But, hey, surprises can be nice.

MARIA: They can be. I have an idea. Tomorrow night, you and I will have our first official date. All of the nervousness and stuff. We won't know what we're going to do. We'll just start walking and wherever we end up is fine with both of us.

ROSS: Then it is a date. I'll find a sitter for Hayley as soon as I get home tonight.

MARIA: You can leave her with Ben, Meg, and Benjy if you want.

ROSS: You don't think he'll mind?

MARIA: I doubt it. Ben is wonderful with kids and so is Meg. The four of them will have a blast.

ROSS: I have a feeling we will too.

They talk some more, just as every scene has so far ended.

Sean is walking down the street towards Bette's house. He and Amy are coming towards each other. They stop.

AMY: Hi.

SEAN: Yeah.

AMY: So, how are you?

SEAN: Do you care?

AMY: You know I do.

SEAN: Do I? Did you care when you drugged me to get me in bed with you? For some romp in the sack that never meant that I loved you? And to think I was stupid enough to blame myself for it.

AMY: I'm sorry.

SEAN: You've said that a lot, Amy. You've never proven you meant it.

She looks hurt as he walks off.

Brad walks by Sunset Sisters as Emily is walking out. The bump into each other, not noticing that it's them.

BRAD: I'm sorry.

EMILY: No, it's okay. Oh, Brad.

BRAD: HI. Listen, Emily, can we talk?

EMILY: About what, Brad? About you lying to me?

BRAD: Yes, actually. Please, can we talk?

EMILY: You have five minutes.

BRAD: Thank you. Can we go somewhere more private?

EMILY: No, right here. I'm waiting for Sean to pick walk me home.

BRAD: Oh. I want you to know that even though I lied to you that I am sorry for all of it. I know I haven't exactly done anything to show you that I'm sorry, but I really am. I would like your forgiveness, but I have no right to ask for it, because I don't deserve it. I just wanted you to know that the only reason I was working with Amy was because I knew you loved Sean, you still do. I just thought that maybe you might like me. It was stupid, I know that. And I really am sorry I ever did it. You were the first girl, the only girl, I could tell my feelings to. That's it. I'm done.

Sean walks up, smiling until he sees Brad. He ignores him.

SEAN: You ready to go?

EMILY: Yeah. I'll talk to you later, Brad.

BRAD: Bye, and thank you.

They smile at each other and Sean and Emily head off.

At Bette's house she, AJ, and Eddie are getting things ready for dinner. The door bell rings.

BETTE: I'll get it.

She goes to the door.

EDDIE: Thanks for including me in your family dinner, AJ.

AJ: Bette sees you as such, so I do too. It'll come as quite a shoch thought, that you're still alive.

EDDIE: Yeah. I'm going to start making the rounds tomorrow, letting people know I'm here. And finding a place of my own. I appreciate you guys letting me stay, but I feel like I'm imposing.

AJ: This does not seem like you're being yourself.

EDDIE: You see how you act after being held captive by some sick twisted killer for a year and a half.

AJ: Point taken.

Annie and Jude walk further into the house with Bette behind them.

BETTE: Now, Poopsie, there's someone here and you may be a little surprised to see him, so be-

ANNIE: Oh my God, Eddie?

EDDIE: Hi, Annie. Did you miss me?

ANNIE: Are you real?

EDDIE: I'm alive and kicking. Ready to get my life back.

ANNIE: Where have you been?

EDDIE: Derek Evans held me captive. I still don't know what for. I'll find out though.

ANNIE: I never expected to see you again.

EDDIE: Do you still have my surveillance equipment?

JUDE: You have surveillance equipment?

EDDIE: I left it at her house when they all thought I died.

JUDE: I'm a little confused.

EDDIE: And a little bruised too. Sorry, couldn't help myself.

AJ: Yes, Bette told me about last night, Jude.

JUDE: Yeah, I'm still confused. No offense, but who are you?

ANNIE: Sorry, um, Jude Cavanaugh, this is Eddie Connors. Eddie, this is my boyfriend, Jude. Jude, Eddie, we all thought that Ben's twin brother murdered him.

EDDIE: Annie and I were friends.

ANNIE: Is that what we were?

EDDIE: I think it's the only word to describe it. So, a boyfriend. I don't remember the last time I saw you with one.

ANNIE: You didn't see me married to Gregory. Actually I still am.

EDDIE: Richards?

ANNIE: I filed for divorce yesterday.

EDDIE: Well, I never saw that one coming. It's nice to meet you, Jude. Just remember, I have an attachment to Annie, don't hurt her.

JUDE: I won't.

For about thirty minutes they spend time getting to know each other and the door bell rings again. It's Cole, looking like he hasn't been home or taken a shower. He sees Jude and goes towards him and decks him. Jude falls to the ground and Annie kneels beside him. He's bleeding from the nose.

ANNIE: Dammit, Cole, you have to stop doing that!

COLE: Do you know what he did with Caitlin last night, Annie?

ANNIE: The exact same thing you and I did. I've forgiven him, you should too. He's forgiven both of us. Is what you and I did so different from what he and Caitlin did?

COLE: AJ, Bette, sorry, I can't stay with him here. I'll see you later.

As Cole walks out the door Sean, Emily, and Leo walk in.

LEO: Seems like we missed something.

EMILY: Something big.

EDDIE: I'll go get something for that.

SEAN: Was that Eddie Connors?

BETTE: Yes, but it's a long story. Handsome, are you okay?

JUDE: Yeah, I'm fine. It'll just match th other ones.

LEO: How did those happen? You've got, like, tons of bruises on your face.

ANNIE: Cole keeps hitting him.

SEAN: Cole? That doesn't sound like him.

ANNIE: It's another long story. Let's just say that Caitlin, Cole, Jude, and I had a very big night last night that could have ended on better terms. Oh, and you're mother and sister have gone back to hating me again.

BETTE: Poopsie, why don't you take care of handsome while AJ and I finish with getting dinner out here.

ANNIE: Yeah. Come on.

She helps him up and they go to the bathroom. About ten minutes later the entire group, minus Evelyn and David, is sitting down to dinner.

LEO: Um, everyone, I have some pretty big news.

AJ: Really, what is it?

LEO: I got a job today. A pretty good one. I am the new book reviewer for the Sentinal.

SEAN: Congratulations, man.

Congratulations all around.

BETTE: I wonder where Evelyn and David are? She's usually never late.

EMILY: They're probably together.

LEO: They've got some big secret.

AJ: Do you have any idea what about?

SEAN: None, it's really secretive.

They continue eating.

Under the pier, it's dark now, Evelyn is sitting with a bottle of liquor. David finds her and sits next to her.

EVELYN: Id, my buddy. How are you?

DAVID: Better than you are.

EVELYN: Really? Because I'm doing great, so you'd have to be doing pretty darn good to be doing better than I am. You know, Id, you're quite an attractive young man.

She kisses him and tries to get his shirt off.

DAVID: Evelyn! Stop. I am your friend and nothing more.

EVELYN: [Coldly.] My, you sure know how to make a girl feel wanted.

DAVID: You're very beautiful and when you aren't drunk you're nice to be around, but this is not right.

EVELYN: Get away from me! NOW! Who are you to tell me when I'm fun and when I'm not fun. You stand there so, so, so, so, so, righteously and you tell me I'm drunk and not thinking straight.

DAVID: You aren't, Evelyn.

EVELYN: GO AWAY!

He does. A few minutes later he's at Bette's house.

BETTE: David, do you know where Evelyn is?

DAVID: I saw her and I don't think she's coming. Let's just leave it at that, please.

AJ: Um, okay. Is there something wrong?

DAVID: I think she needs to be by herself for a while. Sorry I'm late, by the way.

Later in the evening everyone is talking to certain people. David sits next to Annie who is by herself thinking.

ANNIE: Hi.

DAVID: Hi.

ANNIE: Great conversationalist.

DAVID: Never been called that before.

ANNIE: Is Evelyn okay? She had a tough night her first here. I just want her to feel like she knows that the people who love her do love her.

DAVID: She knows. It isn't that. I'd rather not talk about it and I know she won't want to either.

ANNIE: What do you think of me asking for five million in the divorce? From one of Gregory's children I'd like to know.

DAVID: I think you have a right to a lot more. My father was terrible to you and cheated you out of quite a bit.

ANNIE: Thank you.

DAVID: In the time I've been here you haven't been a bad stepmom. I don't know what mom and Caitlin are complaining about. You aren't even near as bad as they say you are.

ANNIE: Really?

DAVID: Yeah. You seem nice, seem to love your family, your boyfriend. You care about people and you've done some pretty nice things for some.

ANNIE: It took me a long time to get that way. Your mother and sister were on the receiving end of many of my attacks. I understand their hatred, but wish they could forgive me. Anyway, thank you for not believing them. I have changed.

DAVID: I can tell.

David smiles and gets up and goes to talk to Leo. Jude sits next to Annie.

JUDE: Are you okay?

ANNIE: I'm a little tired.

JUDE: Well, do you want to go?

ANNIE: No, I like this. The family together. It needs to happen more often.

JUDE: Okay, then you're doing the right thing by sitting here resting.

ANNIE: Stay with me?

JUDE: You know I will.

Through the window Evelyn looks in on them, then takes a drink.

The end until the next.
