They Eat Their Young - lyrics

Annie in Black

From the album Last Supper

Lyrics by: Dave Mountain
Music by: Dave Mountain, Pete Manning, Tom Barrett

Annie was bold when I knew nothing
She never waited to touch.
She knew what she wanted just a little too often;
Looking back, guess it wasn't that much.
We were stupid and brave as the young can be
In my car on a busy street;
We even did it once in the principal's office
And in gym, we were quick off our feet.

Lust, that was Annie
I never found out only she was cheap.
I couldn't take all that she had to give me
Looking back now, God, was it so steep?

I think of her now in her funeral black
A goth girl with long dark knives.
She knew what she wanted just a little too often;
She's a cat having lost some lives.
Be careful what you wish for, oh my Annie
Death's an acquired taste.
And too soon you'll learn all the failures of men
Who loved your ways, left the rest to waste.
