Brumley was a very special band that lasted about a year. Featuring me-guitar and vocals, Grant Campbell - guitar, Rodney Daughtrey - drums, David Harris - bass and Greg Newman - keyboards.
We got together in early ninety-five and practiced in a rehearsal hall we rented on brookside. We had a great time, practicing religiously at least two times a week, from about 7pm often till past midnight hammering out songs that I had written and covers songs of current and 80's songs. Weber's Rootbeer stand was close by and would suffer our haunts frequently as well as the Citgo gas station across the street (now leveled)... We had a room on the second floor that was right on the corner of 38th and Peoria, consequently we had an inspiring little view of the "scenery". We did a song called "Window Song" that was inspired in part by said view. Anyway, we were a good band, probably near the best thing I've ever done. We did a couple of shows at The Eclipse that I was very proud of. It really ended because Rodney Daughtrey left... He decided to take a position as a Research Scientist at M.I.T. in Boston. We tried to continue but it was one of those chemistry things, it just didn't work out. But what we had was real special and every time I drive down Peoria I have fond memories of the good times we had together. A fun bunch of guys with the right balance of personalities is what a band is all about. Brumley was a good band and I'm thankful for what we had... Who knows? It might happen again sometime... I never thought that Square Force would. (See Rest of the Story)
