Life and Death... and the thin line that seperates them both... the journey of life.

Thats what these poems are... life or death, or the bit in between. Can take just a throw of the dice... or a spin of the barrel... a bite with some venom... or a noose drawn tight... to take you from Living to Deceased.

NIGHT

Chill the wind blows,
Scattering leaves on the ground,
Eerie silence,
Hardly a sound.
Dark and black,
An endless chasm in the sky.
Pinpoints of light,
Full moon,
Grass sways slowly in the night,
Silhouettes,
Shadows, rustle,
Footsteps approach,
Wind whistles,
Dog barks,
Empty windows,
Void of light,
Scream,
Then silence,
Run away in fright...............Fleur June'92

JOURNEY

Wind,
Blows cold.
The path I take,
Is old.
Bushes and brambles,
Reach out,
To choke.
I stumble, fall,
Reach out.
A hand grabs mine,
It’s warm,
Full of care,
And pulls me up,
Out from the pit,
Of infernal despair...............Fleur Apr'92

DOOR

If you can find the door,
Knock on it,
Turn the handle,
Find it locked.

If you can find the key,
Put it in the lock,
Turn it,
Make it unlocked.

If you can find the door,
Knock on it,
Turn the handle,
Find it unlocked...................Fleur Feb. ’93

SUICIDE PACT

I’ll kill myself,
When I’m thirty,
All grubby and Dirty,
Working every hour,
I can’t lift a finger,
Because I have no power,
Myself, I am an empty shell,
Is it worth living, or will I,
Go straight to hell?..............Fleur Jan. ‘93

REMINISCING

We had a laugh,
We laughed a lot,
We grew,
We changed,
We matured.

We look back,
We reminisce a lot,
We laugh,
We cry,
We regret.............................Fleur Dec. ‘92

DYING

Eyes are heavy,
Eyelids drooping,
Lashes fluttering,
Eyes close,
Snap open,
Sit up straight,
Neck hurts, Head aches,
Bones creak,
Limbs twitch,

Eerie silence.

Chair rocks,
Back and forth,
Cat mews,
Blanket slips,
On swollen knees,
Fluffy slippers,
Hand moves,
Reaches out,
Fingers click,
Blanket grasped,
Clock chimes, 10, 11,
Reminiscing,
Tine is fleeting,
Fire dying,
Growing colder,
Shallow breathing,
Chair creaks,
Body stiffens,

Now relaxes.

I let myself out of the door,
I had carried out her wish, and more,
I watched her die,
She was Ninety-four,
And she died happily though,
In case you wondered who she was,
She was my gran,
And no she wasn’t Murdered...............Fleur'92

IN MEMORIUM

I was your mother,
And you were my child,
Though I never birthed you,
I loved you just the same..........Fleur Mar'93

GOOD-BYE

Goodbye,
So long,
Farewell,
My friend,
I loved you well.

Goodbye,
Safe journey,
Au revoir,
My friend,
I love you still.

Goodbye,
Ta-ta,
I’ll be seeing you soon,
My friend,
Hello....................................Fleur Mar. ‘93

*Your attention is caught by a movement to the left of you... You turn but see nothing... A moment later a hand materialises and motions toward an opening behind a heavily embroidered wall drape. The hand then dematerialises. You may exit through the passage behind the drape... or return whence you came*
