'Twas fluffy, and the fur was soft
It bounced and bumbled in the glade;
All juicy were the carrot tops,
And the lettuce leaf was jade.
"Beware the Elmer Fudd, my son!
The lisp that sears, the gun that bangs!
Beware the evil hunter hat, and run
From the hunters nasty traps!"
He took his Celery stick in paw:
Long time the pretty doe he sought--
So rested bunny in the shade of a tree,
And twitched his nose in thought.
And, as in rabbit type thought he stood,
The Hunter, with his guns aflame,
Came trampling through the happy wood,
And cursed out as he came!
Munch, munch! Munch, munch! And through and through
The rabbits’ teeth went snicker-snack!
He left him dead, and with its pack
He went hop-hopping back.
"And hast thou slain the Hunter?
Bounce to my warren, my bunny boy!
O glossy fur! lick! lick!"
She chortled in her joy.
'Twas fluffy, and the fur was soft
It bounced and bumbled in the glade;
All juicy were the carrot tops,
And the lettuce leaf was jade.
