CDs I have bought
.
This list was started on the 17th July 1997
- The Superjesus - Eight Step
Rail - October 1997 -
After seeing The Superjesus at Livid I went looking for
this EP and couldn't find it anywhere. A week later, Heidi found it in some shop and
bought it for me :). (She has listened to the down
again single about 1000 times). It is a very
impressive debut.
- Reef - Glow -
October 1997 - I went drifting through the records shops
the week after the Livid Festival and every shop I went
into this CD was staring at me. Reef were good live but I
just wasn't sure. In the end I succumbed to my
subconscious and bought the album. I haven't stopped
listening to it yet. I had it playing at work, on the bus
on the way home, in the shower, I'm even listening to it
now!!! The bonus CD has some really cool video footage on
it. The Yer Old film clip plus three live songs
performed at the Metro in Sydney. I get I owe my
subconscious one :)
- BodyJar - Strange Harvest
- September 1997 - A week or two after seeing
them play
live I succumbed to buying this mini album. It has
the two latest singles plus an awesome live recording of Glossy
Books. But the track that made me buy this album was
Racist Friend a cover of a They Might Be Giants
song.
- The superjesus - Down Again
(SP) - September 1997
- The Living
End - Hellbound -
September 1997 - After seeing The Living
End at the Uni Bar I went straight up the back of the
bar to buy their first EP. I was lucky enough to get the
CD signed. It says To Gin Su Lee, you rock man, Chris
Cheney. To cut a long story short, Gin Su Lee was
this random extremely enthusiastic South Korean dude, who
wanted the Its For Your Own Good EP (The one
with From Here On In on it) but mistakenly
picked up this one. When he discovered his mistake he
threw this one back over the counter in disgust. I had to
buy it just for the memory. It was a classic moment.
- Ween - The Mollusk
- August 1997 - A birthday gift from fats and oe!!
Thanks boys.
- Bluebottle Kiss
- Somnalist homesick blues
- August 1997 - I bought the CD the day after seeing them
play at the Uni
bar. Check out their homepage at http://www.redox.com.au/bbk
- Pearl Jam - No Code
- July 1997
- Big Heavy Stuff -
Maximum Sincere - July
1997 - Bought this album in readiness for the upcoming
gig.
- Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Have
a Ball - July 1997 - Punk
covers of all your old favourite songs such as Uptown
Girl, I am a Rock and Rocket Man,
performed by a bunch of crazy dudes from other crazy
bands such as NOFX and Lagwagon.
