O’Connor and Quinnell Drinking Productions (c)
We’re not averse to a beer or two once in a while. Here are some details from our various escapades. Scanned photo's coming soon, with any luck...
Brighton or Bust (31st August 1996)
The first O’Connor and Quinnell Drinking Production™, and a roaring success. The idea was simple: hire a mini-bus, fill it with pissed fools and pile down to the coast for a beano. It was a better day than any of us hoped for and whetted everyone’s appettite for more of the same. A great end to the summer at the end of the pier.
Dublin (22nd-24th November 1996)
No pictures I’m afraid (they didn’t come out - we think the camera must’ve got covered in beer or something) but it would be completely amiss of me not to mention this trip on this page.
A legendary weekend where many personal drinking records were smashed, airport laws broken, and we were honoured to be part of the most raucous flight ever to take to the skies. Oh, and we managed to stay in the funniest (and coldest) Guest House in Dublin. Hello to anyone we may have met/snogged/pissed off during our stay in the Emerald Isle and many thanks to Brother Denis for arranging this one (sort of). Mental.
Bournemouth Must Burn (1st February 1997)
The follow-on from Brighton, same sort of idea. Thanks to the notoriety that the first beano achieved we had more than enough people up for this one. Another blinding day, although in hindsight Bournemouth was perhaps a bit too far for a day trip.
Thailand (4th-20th March 1997)
How long have you got? Fuckin' paradise. We all agreed it was the best holiday we’ve ever had and plans are afoot to return as soon as possible. We won’t ever forget this one and nor will a few people we 'met'
Future Plans
The summer’s coming and I intend to enjoy it to the full. I hope to re-visit the Strawberry Fair in Cambridge (Sat 6th June) which is a free festival where we've great time for the last couple of years.
The Reading Festival is a must again (29th-24th Aug). Garbage, Foo Fighters, Rocket From The Crypt. It's got to be done. Again. Thanks to my brother for putting us up.
V98/ Last year was brillaint and this year the line-up look even better. We've even got our arses into gear and got the tickets and accomodation sorted already. See ya there. The weather better be good.
Hopefully we should be off on another Dublin style escapade, probably to Edinburgh at the end of July. If its half as good it'll be blinding. The Usual Suspects ride again.
In case you haven't noticed, the World Cup is happening. This should mean a few sessions at The Vomitorium when I get it in a decent state.
We're waiting for Denis and Jess to come over from Dublin for the return leg. Should be trully awful if it ever happens. But we just think they're scared!
(And I’m supposed to be doing up my house!!)
And Finally...
A BIG thank you to everyone who’s been on any of these trips and helped make them the occasions that they were. These include Sean (for being even more mad for it than me), Sean’s Dad (for driving the mini-buses), Denis (for arranging the Dublin trip, despite the accomodation) and all the rest. Here’s to some more of the best days ever. Bollocks to everyone else.
