The Beginning?

Flat Mary Stone began officially three years ago, with LD and Trevor. However, they have been jamming together for about eleven years now. They always wanted to be this serious, and now it's finally happening.

They just finally got tired of most of this crap that's out right now that people call music. The only way to change the face of music was to make some music that will move people, and not let the people move the music. And that's why the band was started.

Trevor and LD
Trevor and LD looked around long enough, and found a bass player and a guitarist to fill out the lineup. Trevor knew Nila, who worked at another local radio station, and mentioned he was looking for a bass guitarist. She told Trevor to get up with her brother, Dan. He met with Dan, and asked him to come jam with us. Dan knew Brad, guitarist, and told them about him. They came down, jammed, it clicked, FMS has a bass player and guitarist. So the story starts picking up now!

Trevor and LD began recording our debut album "87" before Dan and Brad joined the band, but they were soon involved with input into the whole project. And after a serious amount of time, effort, and expense the CD was finished.

Then the touring began. FMS toured to support "87" for two and a half years. They covered more than thirty cities in five states during this time. The CD was well received, with almost the entire order being sold during this extensive tour.

Several songs also received airplay at local stations, as well as airplay at most all the cities the visited. And in the middle of this time period they also did an appearance on "Local Live", a program broadcast on Lexington, KY's WKQQ 100.1 FM. It was well received and songs from that session received some additional airplay as well.

Now for the latest news, as promised. FMS has been in the studio recording for a CD single to send to radio stations for promotional use, and to book more shows in newer areas. The recording is currently done and they are waiting for the CD's to be manufactured. The chances of the CD being sold is still undetermined, so if you want to be able to purchase this CD, yo had better start emailing the band and tell them you want this CD!

Keep an eye out for any additional news, and there is still more to come here as well. The history will get a little deeper as the band reveals more.

Below is a little info about each member of the band. Here is your chance to get a little more personal with FMS.

Trevor - Vocals, Guitar
Trevor

I've been playing music for about 10 years...you'd think that i'd be pretty good but not really... creative maybe, but not that hot when you take into consideration the amount of time I've put in... Started playing trumpet long before I played the skin-flute....did pretty good there...don't mean to toot my own horn but I toured with a symphony when I was a senior in H.S. The next venture after my "kiss-my-brass" days was the Honor Choir thing.... first year in that I went to all-state with honors. Didn't know I could sing actually.
Then got into a band and kinda let Tpt slide...still pick it up for a little jazz on occasion........flat is the first actual "screw-all-else" opportunity L.D. and I've had...for that I'm greatful...Don't let him kid ya, he's a fantastic drummer and when it comes to Dave Abruzze "however ya spell it!"...I'd rather have the D.

My stuff includes: 2 Marshall jcm 900 and 4x12 celestions...a PRS Custom 24 Guitar(with a nice cherry sunburst finish that i gashed at a show...$600 of damage, not that i'd get it fixed), classic Fender strat w/ seymour duncan hot rail for a nasty growl-Kahler trem... Now it may be outta date, but I still prefer the rack method....2 Boss SE-50 pros...Korg tuner....and a conditoner... a Samson UHF wireless system Rane 31 band EQ...Aphex compellor(amazing, isn't it?)....its all run in stereo between the two marshalls ....leave us some mail...we're always looking to help and maybe get helped as well.......thanx for the thrill,

LD - Drums
LD

I've been hitting the calfskin for around 10 or so yrs. now, but it all started at an early age. I always wanted to bang the hell out of stuff, so the drums just came really natural to me. I haven't been as honored as Trev in music but I too did the band thing, got a couple of superiors in drum solos in high school, did the marching thing where our drumline won several Best Percussion trophies and beat out some really tough drum lines. Me and trev have jammed around for years, but never anything as serious as Flat is.
We finally get the chance to make something with our lives other than the typical 9-5 boring routine. And don't let Trev fool you, he's the only guitarist I know that I can follow-he's got a good ear for songs and is pretty creative. We have been at this for awhile now, so we kinda got a musical bond going. If you got any thoughts leave them here, there's a guestbook and e-mail for comments. We look to help as much as we look for help, so drop us a line.

Equipment: Pearl Drums, Sabian cymbals, Aquarian and Remo drumheads, DW pedals, Gibraltar rack system, Ahead and Vater drumsticks

Dan - Bass Guitar
Dan

I've been pounding on bass for about 8 to 9 years now... I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be, but i hope to get better with time...I originally started playing 6-string, but that was short-lived... I also played trumpet in throughout gradeschool but that also fell short...it wasn't until high school that i was able to play bass in a band..."the band" (as we were known) doubled as my school's pep band...we were OK but it was nowhere as cool as FMS...this band is both the most creative and most professional I've ever had the the pleasure of dealing with...I like to consider myself an OK bassist, but I often find myself just trying to keep up with the grooves laid down by LD, Trev, and Brad...don't let any of them fool you...they're all great musicians!

Brad - Guitar, Vocals
Brad

I kinda lucked out meeting Trev and LD. One of my friends, Dan, started playing bass for FMS and he told me that they needed another guitarist and that I should try out for the band. So I did and everything just clicked, and, well I'd have to say that I love playing music with these guys.
I've been in and out of bands for about four years now. I started out singing for a punk rock band named Soggy Kitten, which was later renamed Daizy Head. Then I played guitar for a band named the Drabs. I guess I'd have to say that my major influences have been punk rock, like the Misfits or the Sex Pistols.
