Six Feet Over, Another day like today TAPE
With guitars strapped on, 6 ft. over sound much like a lot of US
"alternative pop" (their words) bands: punchy in the right places,
jangly when required, verse/chorus and so on. But when it's
just piano and Kim Koppel's voice, a whole new intensity is
generated. Take "Ceasefire" for example. About Northern Ireland, its
stark, simple and sometime amelodic tune contrasts with the powerful
and emotive vocal to great effect. Likewise the bouncing depression of
the piano-led instrumental "Playing with Chafe" heavily outscores the
guitar songs. My advice? More piano please. PO Box 185, Elmhurst, IL
