IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and is a form of chat much like AOL Instant Messenger and many others, except you generally join channels with others instead of primarily being one-on-one chat. It is also very easy to have one-on-one chats. But, what I like about IRC the most is the variety of Mp3's you can find there. Free for the asking! These links are here to help people with IRC. Good place to learn about IRC security issues. Viruses (mostly trojans) are becoming more prevelant on IRC. On your own PC, be sure to go into a folder, click View - Folder Options, View tab, click the 'show all files' radio button and uncheck 'hide file extensions for known file types'. This will show you all your file's true file extensions. This will prevent you from seeing a virus file like Mypic.jpg.bat as Mypic.jpg (it's trying to fool you into thinking it's a picture!). |

Free Online Anti-Virus Scan. HouseCall from Trend Micro. Just can't beat the price! Dialup connections may take a while for a complete scan if you have large hard drives! If you can't run an anti-virus program on your computer in the background at all times, you need to make this a regular stop. You can even have it scan just one folder to check your downloads before installing them. If you are having trouble locating the scanner, click on the 'Free Tools' link on the trend micro pages. |
