Sub-Mission Underground was a monthly (but tried to be bi-weekly) Empty-V styled music program. Heavy influence was given to the smaller Indie labels & bands as well as local bands that had no record deals at all. This was punk rock TV for the pre-Green Day punks. (Well, kinda...Green Day was around and putting out good albums, but few outside the punk community knew of them. Anyway....)
The show covered Punk Rock, Speed Metal, and anything that you otherwise could NOT hear on the radio & TV outside of locally produced cable TV shows (like this one) and college or community radio. The show ran fairly regularly until sometime in 1990 or 1991.
The Original host of
Sub-Mission Underground was long time nobody & part time hipster wanna-be Brian Vroom.
Brian is still lurking in the Subrec empire and can be reached via the Subrec BBS
Brian was eventually relieved of his hosting
duties when the THD crew signed on for 2 shows. THD consisted of Jason Parker (seen on the
left), Doug Cripe (seen on the right), and Tim King (not pictured). Together these folks
ran THD Records, putting out records by bands like the Porcelain Boys, Swiz, The Wynona
Ryders & Jolt. They also did the THD radio hour on the University of Minnesota's WMMR
radio station (now known as Radio K) as well on putting on many basement shows in the Twin
Cities area. Jason can be reached today at:

Lord Kev was the final host of
Sub-Mission Underground. He, Like Brian Vroom, was a nobody that quickly rose to
superstardom. With this change in host also marked Brian Vroom's return to the show on the
production side. Lord Kev rocked though some of the best shows we ever did. Kev is now working on his baseball team full of kids, but may also be caught lurking at the new BBS.
