(UNDATED)--If your car crashes, you take it to a body shop to get it back into one piece. But where do you go when your hard drive crashes? For most of us, the answer is -- to the computer store to get another one. But what if you have something on that disk you just gotta have? The current issue of Popular Mechanics features a story on companies that can restore the contents of busted computer storage devices. One of them is Drive Savers Incorporated. The company's president issues this warning: "All storage devices eventually fail." When it does, you can ship it off to disk-recovery firms and they can try to restore the data - if you are willing to pay the price. Drive Savers says it has recovered personal records for rock star Sting, musical arrangements for Barbara Mandrell -- and the working script for "Who Shot Mr. Burns" episode of "The Simpsons" a few years back.
