I would like to start with something from my own collection, these are the Japanese promo cd's I recieved of the years. In Japan they make special (sort of greatest hits) cd's for dj's only. Copy run of only 50 to 75 pieces. Very collectible but also very expensive, single copy costs about U$300.00.
STING D.J. COPY - DSP-6 Canyon Records
11 Sting tracks/4 police tracks , thisone is from 1988. Cover is a live photo of Sting (1988 period) comes in a jewel case.
Lazerus heart/Well be together/Englishman../Sister moon/If you love../consider me gone/bring on the../they dance alone/be still my../fragile/little wing/Roxanne/dont stand so.../message in a bottle/every breath you take
STING '91 SPECIAL COMPILATION - DSP-112 Canyon Records
9 sting tracks/3 police tracks, thisone is from 1991. Cover has no photo just a logo saying the already mentioned title. This cd was released in a paper sleeve only.
all this time/I miss you kate/well be together/fragile/someone to watch over me/message in a bottle/conversation with a dog/if you love somebody/ellas danzan solas/every breath you take/englishman in N.Y./Roxanne
STING BEST FOR D.J. - DCI-3084 Polydor Japan
11 sting tracks/ 5 police tracks, comes in a jewel case. Cover photo is almost the same as on the one of the cd-single "Fields of gold". Difference is that we have a large shot of Sting's head.
Roxanne/message in a bottle/don't stand so close../every breath../every little thing she.../If you love somebody/fortress around../well be together/englishman in N.Y./all this time/mad about you/If I ever loose../seven days/fields of gold/nothing bout me/every breath you take (unplugged) and 2 station liner notes.
There are no rare or live tracks on these cd's which can not be found as b-sides or nomal single tracks on other cd's. At this moment I'm looking for the one from the new album, let you know when I get it.
I have some problems in finding the rental movies for a couple of Andy's soundtracks. I'm interested in an audio copy of the complete movie. Is there anybody who has these titles?
The Cord/The end of the Line/Hunchback/Motorama/Out of time/Poochinski/Street Legal
From Stewart I still need:
Decadence/The Girl in my room/White Dwarf/Tyson/After midnight
A French collector has made a Sting magazine for us Freaks. He writes about lp/cd's, TV-shows, cover stories etc. etc. etc. Do subsribe to this magazine if you like to collect Sting items.

I paid 10 UK pounds ( $16.00) for six issues.
Over the last few weeks some people asked me to write more about 7" records by Sting. One of those questions was "What is the rarest official Sting single"?
Easy question cause that single was released only 3 years ago. In my opion it must be:
SHAPE OF MY HEART / A DAY IN THE LIFE (LIVE)
UK test pressing A&M 5803527 released on August 23 1993.
This is the only test pressing which hasn't got a b-side which is not on the normal release. "A day in the life" was probably recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in London early 1993. Mostly testpressings have the same b-side as the official release. This is the only one who has not.
Oke lets give another one !!!??? Can somebody tell me if he/she knows a single which is rarer than the above?
Something else for you single collectors outthere! Did you know that most of the USA promo's of Sting are on translucent vinyl? What does this mean? Well if you hold that single against a light the wax gets another colour.
I received some reactions on my last FREAKS mail. The question I had was, what would be Sting's
2nd rarest official single release in the world.
Darren Gray said that I would be "Love is the seventh wave (4.05)/Love is the seventh wave (3.30)" the Japanese promo issue (ALAM-121). I think he is right. I realised it a few month back when I was at a record fair here in Holland. The sleeve for this promo single is a bit different than the official one.
The single has a special inlay with the lyrics in Japanese, front cover looks like the official release except the official one is in full colour, this release is only in white and purple. I paid only $20.00 on the fair for thisone, but do expect high prices if fans are offering this single cause many people would like to have it.
Somebody else said that his Last Exit single is the rarest one. Correct but I wanted to write about his official solo releases only. For those who do not know:
LAST EXIT
Whispering Voices/Evensong Wudwink studio label WUD/01
white label no cover, released in two issue's which are almost equal to each other, the rarest one has a press-out centerhole. Worth about $100.00
Lets not forget about THE POLICE. The rarest police single around? Any ideas?
THE POLICE
Don't stand so close to me (3.37)/Friends (3.35) Japan promo ALAM 103
Has a special inlay, big red letters THE POLICE, small photo print of Andy/Stewart and Sting. If you would see the single you probably would not think that thisone sells for about $150.00.
Welcome back you all, what happend the last 2 weeks. Yes there is a new bootleg called "Fragile" with the complete show of Paris 1996 on it (double cd set). I will give more details about thisone by the time I receive the disk, or if somebody else is faster. No other bootleg news yet!!!!!!
A bootleg single which was released a few months ago in England by a band called Therapy (!!??), yes Therapy! As you probably know Sting did a duet with them on the first "Tarattata" broadcast 3 years ago. The song they did was "Next to you", what a greeeeeeeaaaaaaat version!!!
On this single you can find "Invisible Sun", cover by Therapy (not with Sting) and the above duet. The single is on Try to Understand records TRY 002, green vinyl.
The new single is comming up, our friend "Lithium sunset" will inform you asap!!!!
This weekend Sting will be on Pay TV all over the world, rumours from Germany say that it will be the show from Atlanta 1996. Can somebody confirm this?

This commes with an 8 pages full colour booklet. Most of the photo's in this booklet are from the MF tour program.
I do NOT have these CD's for sale, bought them yesterday at a local record fair.
Virgin Mega Store in London,Paris and Tokyo did something special with the release of Mercury Falling. Just a few hundred cd's came with a special metal box to put in the cd.
This box lhas the size of a box in which you can find the cigars your dad smokes. Front side has the cover photo of MF, left down side corner there is written "Highly Virgin recommends". Back side has the official Virgin Megastore logo. The is just a normal cd release inside, no other specials.

b-side is "Fall out" live version recorded in Beziers 1980.
You can also find black and white sleeves with 2 different maxtrix numbers on the records.
It is of course very good possible that you have a reissue sleeve with a 2 striped or 3 striped label.
Watch out !!!!, there are also some differences with the sleeve openings. These are the 2 different ones you will find for all the above mentioned official sleeves:
SLEEVE NUMBER 1 | =======\______________/===========|
round opening
SLEEVE NUMBER 2 |=======\______________/===========|
This was a long story, so check your own records now and do let me
know if you have a release which isn't in this list yet.
Thanks, Joerg, your list was as usual a reference.
FREAKS QUESTION:
Can't Stand Losing You, was as we all know, issued in an assortment of different coloured vinyl (apart from black !) in the UK - blue, lgt blue, dk blue, green, yellow, red, white.
If you had to rank these in order of "difficult-to-find-ness", how would your list look?
Also, to the best of your knowledge, how many copies of the orange/black sleeve Fall-Out were reissued?
Yours in anticipation ;-)
Dave & Wendy

FREAKS ANSWER:
Thanks Wendy/Dave,
My wife is complaining now, less attention, more records, yes lets come with these questions.
most difficult one is probably : white, than we get green/yellow/red - the blue ones are the easy ones to get. Soon I talk about some test pressings of these colours, or did I write about them before ?
What a memory!
The fall out question will be a guess, I think it is even more difficult to get the orange/black sleeve version than the black/white version. So if b/w was made 1,500 times I guess the o/b one will be around a thousand copies.
