This was a fantastic show! I haven't seen Sting for *years* -- [Atlanta, Police and Go-gos; Orlando, Police, Fixx, Animals]. While others on the ng complain the set list is boring or didn't contain "jazz" I thought it was a great blend of old and new. A jazz fan myself, I would have liked to see a bit of improvisation, but I was in Jacksonville FL, where you don't hear much jazz except for the great November Jazz Festival. The band stretched out a little in Englishman and BOTN (though Robello's piano solo was strikingly similar to that of Kirkland). In addition, this was Sting's first time here as a solo artist (I don't think the Police appeared here either, AFAIK); so ANY set list was an improvement.

Sting was in fine voice; I didn't hear any sour notes, and he didn't shy away from those high notes. He and the band were energetic and enthusiastic. I haven't figured out what the hell Kipper was doing on keys all night (mix problems I suppose; the venue wasn't an auditorium; they play hockey and basketball in there). He sang, played electronic and non-electronic percussion, and looked like he was having a blast. Dominic was solid but restrained--he never really had time to stretch. Manu kicked ass on those yellow Yamahas. Robello played some nice stuff; the man can play. I didn't catch the name of the background singer, but he sang well and noodled around on rhythm guitar a bit. Chris added some interesting horn lines.

For those interested in what Sting wore: dark khaki cargo pants and black tank top. I couldn't see his footwear. Any questions?
