Well tonight is a vodka night. I am currently sitting in the bar of the Kensington Hilton with Deborah. Just finishing a nice meal, and enduring many Vodka and oranges. We are currently sitting naked beside the fire sipping Wine and Vodka with the staff of the Hilton...very strange that they allow this in the main bar.
We were smack bang in the middle of the front row again tonight....three nights in the front row at the Albert Hall... life could be worse....
Tonights clan included Stina, Paul, Tina, James, Deborah, (Grant from Glasgae) Lydia and and and ..... Luke showed up to do his thing for the rainforest also. nice to have everyone here.
For the last two nights the people have been allowed to go to the front of the stage but tonight despite Lydia's constants attempts, they wouldn't allow it until Every little thing she does is Magic.
Other point of interest...what is the deal with Dominic...somebody by him a belt... trousers are falling down all the time and he is getting a little bit of a belly happening... and Kipper said thanks to us outside for keeping the energy up at the front... really all the thanks should go to Lydia as she is a god walking as women.... really energetic, dancing and smiling all the time... and laughing at my shirt.
No more reviews from me until the 6th April as I need a wee break... although somehow I feel that Steph and Dawn will drag me to some shows this weekend.... oh lucky me.... not...or...maybe....or.... thanks for coming..... thanks for listening... and off to the Vodka bar....
Just got back to Houston last night from the first three spectacular shows at the Royal Albert Hall. I'm suffering from a little Sting withdrawal, so I decided that now would be a good time to write a little something about the shows.
Like Kipper, it was my first time to be at the Royal Albert Hall, which in itself was very impressive, except for the bathrooms! It was especially great to be right at the front at all three shows too. All three shows carried the same setlist, which has already been posted so I won't repeat it here.
Great energy on the first night. Everyone was excited and you could totally feel that excitement all around. One of the highlights of the evening seemd to be the proposal in the balcony--especially for the two people involved. For myself, and I think for most of the hardcore fans in the front, it was the appearance of Cheb with his "mini Cheb" on the darbouka for Desert Rose. However, the "mini Cheb" is in fact larger than the actual Cheb, so isn't this a bit of a contradiction, Jer?!? Excellent show in all, and a perfect primer for the ones to follow.
If the first night was great, the second night was great to the power of 3! Sting seemed much more relaxed and the band seemed more confident. Sting's voice was superb and he had more interaction with the audience than he did on the first night. Cheb and "mini Cheb" were back for Desert Rose, to the delight of everyone. Chris moved around the stage considerably more than on the first night. Sting and Chris held the final note of Tomorrow We'll See for a blissful eternity, each seemingly trying to outlast the other. Very nicely done.
The third night was every bit as good as the second night. Sting's voice was in fine form. Jason had his pop star get-up on with the wig. Unlike the first two shows, security wouldn't let people come up to the front until after Every Little Thing... after which they had no choice! Cheb and mini Cheb were on again. Even though Jeremy is a little bored with Seven Days, I have to say that I like it a lot--a sure-fire crowd pleaser which always sounds good. Sting outlasted Chris' trumpet at this show on Tomorrow We'll See and grinned with satisfaction at having done so. Another truly great show ... too bad I probably won't be at the others.
It was great to meet so many new people - Lydia, Stina, Paul, James, Graeme, Alain, and many others, all of whom I hope to see at the Jazz Fest! And Jeremy, thanks for talking me into staying!!
