Assisi was completely different : little stadium, half empty (about 3.500 people) but Sting was absolutely GREAT : we were in the first row, very HOT, he saw us, and he really gave his best during the whole show: it was as if we were giving him all our enthusiasm and he was giving his best in turn...Unfortunately I miss the English words to express it, but really it was by far the best concert of this tour (of the 5 I've seen, up to now).
Assisi itself, is a wonderful place : each corner is a picture. We expected to see Sting at the small airport but Marco and Madia, two Italian friends who were still in Verona, in front of his hotel, found out that he was going to Modena to meet Pavarotti then he had to sign a contract (he has bought another house somewhere in Tuscany) and was arriving in Assisi late in the afternoon. We queued in front of the gates from 14.00 o' clock (some of us from 13.00 ... crazy Lydia !), under a hot sun and when the gates opened, yes, we were still in first raw, all with our black and yellow T-shirts. The local newspaper published a photo of the magic first raw with the review of the concert.
Danny and David, on backstage during the concert, smiled at us and had a great fun looking at how we were enjoying the show and how we were giving enthusiasm to the rest of the audience and to Sting himself. We shouted loud all the names of the band, one by one and they seemed to appreciate it (special shout for Vincenzo...)Danny said it was a real fun to see us. Danny was extremely kind as usual and spent about half an hour before the gig, speaking with Guido and other people, but I'll leave the details to Guido himself.
So, what else .. I surely bother you with all these comments but forgive me for few lines more, just to thank Nathalie from France, Marco, Madia, Egidio, Emiliano, Walter, Tucci and his girlfriend, Guido, Barbara, Giovanni, Barbara, Lydia, Simona and Achille, the two guys from Genoa and all the guys we spent the waiting hours with, under the hot sun in Assisi: it was really a wonderful experience, one of those things that remain, after such great days. We shared funny things on being obsessed fans, we learned something more about the Man we all love. Luuk, Markus, Martin and Sandra, Kris and Pascal, we missed you.
And now, let's arrange for Lienz : the big swarm of Italian bees will fly to Austria in two week-ends. See you there - If you are coming, please drop me a line and let's meet. Black and yellow T-shirt is compulsory !
