I have a story to tell about this one....I went to see Sting w/the Dead at Giants Stadium in June (The Dead and Sting, another brillant (touch of scarcasm here) decision that Sting/Miles made regarding Sting's carrer). Anyway, I went to this show since it was the only ticket that I could get for that leg of The TST tour. Sting came out at about 6 or 7 pm and was very noticebly ticked off about something....I never did find out what, although if I was opening for the Dead playing to Giants Stadium with only about at the most 1,000 people in it when he started the set I would be ticked off too. The set went on with Sting playing one song after another not talking between songs, and acting as though he just wanted to do his hour long set then leave. I was very disappointed to say the least since I had travelled 5 plus hours to see him and then saw this horrible fiasco. Anyway, my understanding is that after the show he left the stadium right away and went back to NYC, which is probably true, since he did not come out for the encore that night.
Most of the time Sting is in a good mood - I think this is especially true of the concerts in NYC and in London. The best concert of his that I have ever seen was at the Beacon Theater in NYC at the start of the TSC tour. I was in the front row and it was the most relaxed I have ever seen him. He was bantering with the crowd talking to the people in the front row (like me) and responding to the people that were yelling things. All and all it was an enjoyable show and at the end of the show he and the band took time out to shake the hands of the people who were in the front. He was also very nice while he was on Broadway in Three Penny, that is until the reviews came out.......
