I have been a Sting fan for a very long time, but I have missed him on his previous tours through the U.S. So let's just say I was pretty excited to be seeing Sting.
My brother and I drove for an hour to get to the concert and unfortunately we arrived halfway through Natalie Merchant's set. She did a very good job opening. I liked her guitarist. She did a very good job. Natalie played a couple of old 10,000 Maniacs songs which pleased the crowd. She played for about an hour and got the crowd into the concert. The stage was now set for the moment my brother and I had been waiting for, which is of course Sting.
After about 15 minutes of changing the stage set, Sting and his band finally came onto stage. The crowd went wild. They started off with "Hounds of Winter." I liked the backing vocals by Dominic in this song, which made the song have a different sound than the album version. I'm glad that Sting mixed in the new songs with the old ones. The highlight of the concert for me has to be when they performed "Englishman in New York." I thought that the rap verse thrown into the middle of the song was great and quite unexpected. The crowd really got into this song. I loved the way that the saxaphone player and the trombone player would get the crowd into the concert. They were going crazy and the crowd loved it. All of the old Police songs were great and this was when the crowd would get the most excited. During "Syncronicity II" there was not one person sitting down, everyone was dancing and singing. I think that people love to hear the old Police toons. Well anyway, here is the set list from the concert.
This is the best concert I have ever been to. I hope that it is of use to you or maybe will let you relive the concert if you were there, too.
