Sting was funny, strong, in good humour, joking and laughing and singing at his best. The band was great; the new man Peter has been intergrated well to play his part in the band, with the funny dances the joking movements. The concert was one hell of a big party, Sting and band rocked; I never saw Vinny drumming with such an energy. They made a good show with all the greatest hits. Sting said the old "Rathaus" looked like his house: "But my house is bigger."

We heard: (If I remember it well...)

  1. If I Ever Lose My Faith In You
  2. If You Love Somebody Set Them Free
  3. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
  4. I Was Brought To My Senses
  5. Seven Days
  6. Mad About You
  7. I Hung My Head
  8. Fields Of Gold
  9. Synchronicity II
  10. Roxanne
  11. Bring On The Night / When The World Is Running Down... (with some lines from "Consider Me Gone")
  12. Demolition Man
  13. Englishman In New York
  14. Every Breath You Take
  15. Lithium Sunset (Kenny played and backing vocalized with "Rescue Me")
  16. Fragile

I wonder when Sting will be touring again...I don't believe in Sting taking the risk of a failing Police Reunion!! So...I'll have my bet on the big 2000.

The location of the Aachen Gig was the Katschhof. A small square between nice medieval buildings. A place Sting must have felt at home, cause he played a damned good show. You can’t really say these gigs were really Mercury Falling, since he dropped "Hounds of Winter," "Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot," "You Still Touch Me," "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" out, but still what remained they played with full energy. They seemed to be enjoying it themselves this time. It looked like the band had a bit more freedom to improvise then usual...especially Dominic. Maybe thanks to his short hair he can finally see what he is playing?!

The new things since the last gig I saw were:

1. Sting’s hair is back; Dominic lost his.

2. Clark is replaced by Pete. Pete isn’t as athletic and virtuous as Clark and surely twice his size, but surely he’s really funny (probably because he’s British). He has a very difficult job, but I must say he mastered it very well in a very short time.

3. The nicest adjustment in the set list was putting "Consider Me Gone" in "When The World". In Aachen it only was one chorus, but in Bad Mergentheim it was an extended version. Excellent.

The night was short with Tom and Soraya in one room and next morning we drove 350 km southwards to Bad Mergentheim.

First I'd like to thank all the members of this list for their reviews about the concert in Aachen. Lithium Sunset, I really appreciated yours.

I didn't post anything before because (yes, I have a very good excuse!) I only came back on Monday (7th). Mmmm, I just finished to read all my messages and Wednesday got a call from my Mom saying that my sister was at the hospital...

It's a Girl !!!!! I told you I had a very good excuse...

Anyway. The gig was very good especially the audience, at least around me, jumping, singing,... well you know what I'm talking about. My husband and I made new friends and once again, it's was a good opportunity to put a face on names. It seems that lots of fans are not afraid of long trips...even Stina was there!

Monica and Achille, we missed you too...

There's still something turning round and round in my mind: Sting said the castle in Aachen reminded him his own. Why did he come in Aachen instead of organizing the gig in his garden??? After the concert we could all gather round a barbecue, vegetarian barbecue of course. Any comments???

Stop joking! oh well...
