I just saw Sting last night in Buffalo. It was fantastic!!
Lyle Lovitt opened for him and he was pretty good. I don't know much of his stuff, except for "She ain't no lady, she's my wife" which he did perform. He played about 50 minutes.
After a short intermission, Sting came out. I didn't write down the songs, and since I've been listening to him nonstop since the show, I may be a little confused as to what he actually played. There were about 4 songs from his new album, including one where Lyle Lovitt came out to join him in a duet. I'd say he played 5-6 Police songs, 3 or 4 from each Ten Summoners Tales and ...Nothing Like The Sun . No Fortress or Russians. No Da do do do (thankfully) and no Ring around my Finger (unfortunately). But yes to Synch II.
He played for about 1:45. He could have played for twice that and no one would have minded. The band consisted of Sting (guitar), a drummer, bass, keyboard, saxophone (soprano and tenor) and the best trombone player I've ever heard. Sorry I don't remember a clue as to their names.
About the theatre - Darian Lake. It's an outdoor ampitheatre, and yesterday was rather cool but clear. A pretty big crowd, most on the lawn with general admission tickets for $20.
Great show!!!!
