NBC Studio 4 - Burbank, (Los Angeles), California, United States [The Tonight Show with Jay Leno]

by Christina on August 10, 2000

I just got home from the taping of the Tonight Show - it was so great!!! September 12 is confirmed for "Englishman in NY"!!!

A couple of other notes...Sting looked so great in a red tank top, as he sang DR with Cheb. Trudie and one of their sons (looked about 16) sat in the studio audience about 20 feet away from us, and during the commercial break after the song he blew them both kisses and mouthed, "I love you", and, "Did it sound OK?" He also made a point, after the taping, to go over and speak with Kevin Eubanks and the rest of the house band, shaking all of their hands.

I also saw my "friend" Miles lurking about. Funny enough, my friend from work who waited on Miles at the beginning of the week was with me. She had the connections that got us into the taping. Miles spotted us spotting him and turned up his nose. Whatever.

If you are a fan of "Sex and the City", as I am, you will love love cutie Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and it is filmed in Burbank, California, on West Alemeda Street. It was on August 10, and the taping went from 5pm-6pm, with Sting on the last 10 minutes. He sang Desert Rose with the band and Cheb Mami, and they had a belly dancer come out during the middle of the song. Then he spoke for a few minutes with Jay, and then he made sure to get Cheb in there to say a few words (being the gracious man he is).

Enjoy the show!

I, too, was at the taping after waking up @ 3 am and spending the day in line(s) with my best friend in the whole wide world Marilyn (currently a lurker on the list), and new buddy Ab (who will be joining the list soon), and meeting for the first time Coco from the list, too.

What was so fabulous was that during the break after he so wonderfully sang DR, Ab Marilyn & I yelled and waved madly to get Sting attention, and he looked *right at us* (we were front row behind the blue rail right in front of Jay's desk!) and waved, then pointed at Ab's Newcastle Soccer shirt and gave him the double thumbs up! Then when Cheb Mambi sat next to Sting, we yelled and applauded (and the folks around us joined in) and *he* made eye contact with us and pointed at himself as if to say, "for me?", and we cheered "yes!" and other woo-hoo type things, and he reacted very gratefully.

What a thrill, so far its the closest we've gotten to him, about 25 feet away.

Now, as previously mentioned on the list, I've been bitten by the close-up bug--I want to see a whole concert that close!

Yeah, he looked terrific in that red (pardon the term) wife-beater, and the scruffy hair.

Well, it was very, very wonderful, as I felt like a schoolgirl!

Don't know how I'm gonna be able to sit on the lawn at Irvine now!

Coco, it was a great pleasure meeting you! For those you who have met him, you understand my gushing--what a great guy! Hope to cross paths again soon.

Sorry we didn't meet, Christina...maybe somewhere else someother day...

Goodnight, I'm going to tape and watch the show.

And Marilyn, quit lurking about and speak up!

How cool is that--your best friend loves Sting as much as you do!
