TD Waterhouse Center - Orlando, United States

by Roy Krause on September 4, 2000

I took my wife to the Sept.1 show at T.D. Waterhouse Centre in Orlando, FL and it was a real treat. I gave her the tickets the night before on her birthday so she was surprised. She loves the Police but had never seen them or Sting. I only saw Police once at Disney World years ago when their only hits were Message and Roxanne. The show the other night was no Police show by any means but he did enough Police songs to keep the crowd and my wife, entertained. The set list was the same as Birmingham show starting out with A Thousand Years and ending the second encore with Fragile. What some people do not appreciate is Sting's wide range of music. He did Blues, Jazz, Pop, even a Country song. That was a hoot. The crowd favorite seemed to be An Englishman in New York, which was odd for a Florida show, maybe a lot of transplants down here. My favorite was that World goes spinning around song about T.V.s and VCRs. It sounded like the way the Police would do it. The opening act Johnny Lang was VERY good and enhanced the mood of the concert. He is a nineteen old wiz kid on the guitar and the folks in front of us only came to see him. They did stick around for all of Sting though. A quality show throughout and well worth the ticket price.
